Description

H. M. TINGLEY.
MILK-FAIL.r No. 178.348. Patented June 6,1876.
`INVENT Fe: ,@@M //a I .Tv'g ff.
I Y ,1f
ITNEESEEI @f UNITED STATES PATENT CFFIGE.
HUGH M. TINGLEY, OF NEW MILFORD, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN MILK-PAILS.
Specification `forming part of Letters Patent No. 17 8,3118, dated June 6, 1876; application tiled April 1, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be `it known that I, H. M. TINGLEY, of
New Milford, in the county of Susquehanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain `new and useful Improvements in Strainer-Fail Breasts, of which the following is a specification The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a detach able breast With strainer attachment for pails, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms part of this specification, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a side view of my pail-breast. Fig. 3 is a section showing the mode of attaching the same to a pail. Fig. 4 is a view of the rubber strip, with hooks for attaching the same to the fiange.
A represents a tin pail of any ordinary construction, having its upper edge strengthened by wire, in the usual manner. B represents the breast, made separate from the pail, and provided with a strainer, C, and spout D, in the center at the outer edge. This breast is intended to rest on the wired edge of the pail, and has a flange, b, on its inner side, near its outer edge, to it within the pail.
To the outside of this flange is held a rubber strip, d, which isfastened to the ends of the flanges by Wires a,as shown, or by hooks, made ot' wire or other metal, fastened to the rubber and hooked around the ends of the flange. On top of the breast B are hinged curved or elliptic hooks E E, which are pressed down over the wire edge of the pail, and hold the breast perfectly tight and secure.
With my invention the breast can be easily put on and taken ott' at will, and is easily kept clean, while the pail can be used for any purpose required.
Having'thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A milk-pail having a segmental removable breast, with filtering eduction-nozzle, and packed descending ange and attachments, substantially as shown land described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
