A MILK-STRAINERS. r No. 194,354. l Patented Aug. 21,1877.
ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIOE.
HENRY T. JONES, OF OATSKILL, NEW YORK.
` IMPROVEMENT IN MILK-STRAINERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 194,354, dated August 21, 1877; application filed July 3o, 1877.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY T. JONEs, of Catskill, in the county of Greene and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Detachable Strainer for Milklrails, of which the following is a specification:
Fignrelis a vertical section of my improved strainer, taken through the line m m, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the clamping-ring.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved strainer for milkpails and other uses, which shall be so constructed that it may be easily and thoroughly cleaned, which shall be strong and compact, will furnish no passage for any dirt, and may be easily renewed, as required.
The invention consists in the combination of the double cam-ring and the lugs with the gauze, the flange, and the plate, to which they are applied, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents the spout, the edges of which are designed to be secured to the side of the milk-pail by solder, or solder and rivets, in the usual Way.
lTo the top of the spoutA is secured' the top 0r cap plate B, through which is formed a hole, through which the milk is poured when being strained, and which is covered with the wiregauze C, that forms the strainer.
To the plate B, at a little distance from the edge of the hole through it, is attached a ringflange, b', toform a shoulder or seat for the gauze C. The gauze C is cut into circular form, and its edge dipped in solder to prevent it from unraveling.
D is a double cam ring, which ts into the ring-flange b', and passes beneath the shoulders of the lugs E, attached to the cap-plate B, so that by turning' the cam -ring D the gauze O may be closely and firmly clamped between the lower edge of the said cam ring and the plate B, and flange b keeping it from slipping out of place.
The spout is provided with a lip, F, to guide the rnilk while being poured out.
With this construction, by turning the camring D back to bring its lowest parts beneath the lugs E, the said ring-cam may be readily detached, allowing the gauze C to be taken out and the gauze'and spout to be easily and thoroughly washed and cleaned.
The ring D has a lug, d', formed upon one side for convenience in turning it.
Having thus described myinvention,1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the double camering D and the lugs E with the gauze C, the ange b', and the plate B, subtantially as herein shown and described.
HENRY T. JONES.
