. IMPROVEMENT INIBARS FOR PLOWSHARES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,154, dated May 9, 1876; application filed March 21, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IsAAG N. PYLE, of Decatur, Adams county, Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Iron and have nothing to do but to cut it off to the proper length and weld it into its place.
The invention consists in iron and steel bars, as a new article of manufacture, rolled flat upon one side, and with a double bevel upon its other side, a wide bevel to an edge along the forward edge of the bar, and a narrow bevel not to an edge along the rear edge of I the bar, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents a bar of iron or steel, which is rolled flat upon one side and inclined or beveled to an edge upon the other side, said bevel or inclination extending from the forward edge of the bar nearly to its rear edge, and is slightly beveled from its thickest part to said-rear edge. The bar is thus in proper shape for use, and all the blacksmith has to do is to cut it off in proper lengths and weld it to its place.
The bars A are designed to be rolled into the shape herein shown and described, and sold as ordinary bar iron and steel are sold.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent' As a new article of manufacture, a-rolled metallic bar drawn to a sharp edge, having flat bottom, a long upward bevel from said edge, and from thence a short rearward bevel, meeting a perpendicular rear side, substantially as shown and described.
