Description

Dec. 31, 1929. B. HIL 1,741,937
NURSING BOTTLE HOLDER Filed Nov. 10, 1927 lITUBITIOL" Luiinesse? Edward E3 W hi6 Q'HomeQ- Patented Dec. 31, 1929 PATENT OFFMZE EDWARD B. HILL, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS NURSING-BOTTLE HOLDER Application filed November 10, 1927. Serial No. 232,245.
My invention relates to improvements in nursing bottle holders, and has for its object the provision of means whereby a bottle may be attached to the side of a cradle or other nearby object and supported at any desired angle within convenient reach of an infant, regardless of his position.
Another obj eot of my invention is to pro vide a device of the kind described of co1n paratively simple construction and ease of manipulation.
A further object of my invention is to provide a holder as described of a structure and design particularly adapted for quantity production and sale at comparatively low figure. A
Other objects and advantages of the construction and design herein employed will appear more fully in the hereinafter specification, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is an elevational view of my device as applied to a fragmentary section of a rail and showing a bottle in the holder.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the wire holder.
Figure 3 is afragmentary detail view of the means connecting the holder and the adjoining flared link.
Figure 4: is a fragmentary detail partly in section, showing the clamp and the L-link pivoted thereto.
Referring more particularly to the drawing in which similar characters of reference apply to like parts in the several figures.
A designates a holder formed of a single piece of wire having the smaller bottle neck embracing loop 11 and the larger loop 12 adapted to embrace the body of a bottle 13. In the center of the holder 10 is an additional loop 18 adapted to be pivotally connected by a rivet 1 1 to the link 15 having a flare portion 16 and a riveted connection to another link 17 which latter is riveted at 18 to the L- link having a similar riveted connection at 20 to the clamp 21 having the wing set screw 22 and the jaws 23 by means of which at tachment may be had to any convenient nearby object such as the rail C.
It is to be observed that the fiat metal links 15, 16 are somewhat elastic in their properties and therefore provide a yielding support for the bottle A, which readily permits some latitude of movement of my device without breakage thereof. This is desirable since while the infant is manipulating the bottle while sucking, a rigid mechanism would either be subject to fracture or else oblige the child to feed in a fixed position.
I have also designed and constructed my holder for quantity production, the links being stamped, the clamp stamped and pressed, and the wire holder bent, these elements being severally formed by a single operation of a machine. To assemble the completed unit 1 merely rivet the elements together, this proceeding enabling me tomanufacture and sell the holder embodying my invention at an eX- ceptionally low figure.
It is apparent that while I have described and illustrated a preferred form, some minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be made when required, without departing from the spirit of my invention, as defined within the scope of the appended claim.
VVllat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A nursing bottle holder comprising a clamp, an L-shaped link pivoted to said clamp, a plurality of pivoted links connected together, one of said links being riveted to the L-shaped link, and a resilient member riveted to another of said links, said resilient member being formed of a single length of wire bent to form three loops, two of said loops being adapted to embrace the neck and body of a nursing bottle, the third loop providing a socket for the reception of the rivet joining the said another of said links.
In testimonywhereof I have signed my name to this specification.
EDWARD B. HILL.
