NURSING-BOTTLE SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented An 2?, 1918.
Application filed June 27, 1917. Serial No. 177.184.
To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that I, BRUTUs A. MUGEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago. in the county of Cook and State of Illinois. have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Nursing-Bottle Supports, of which the following is a speeification. 7
My invention relates to nursing bottle sup- -ports that is devices intended to hold a babys nursing bottle in proper position for use at all times so as to obviate the difficulties which ensue from the momentary disengagement. of the baby from the bottle in the absence of the attendant.
My invention is illustrated more or less diagrammatically in the accompanying drawings wherein Figure l is a side elevation of a support with the bottle in position;
Fig. '2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1 with the bottle removed;
Fig. 3 is a view of a modification of the parts shown in Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a detail of a modification of the front portion of the support;
Fig. 5 is a view of a two part front support;
Fig. 8 is an elevation of a modification of the front support;
Big. T is a cross section on the line 77 of Fig. 8 is a side elevation of a modificationg' Fig. 9 is a plan view thereof; and
10 is a cross section on the line 1010 s are indicated by like letters in s a base plate onwhich is mounted the supporting ends B and C. The support is provided with a notch in its upper part in which lies the rear end the bottle l). The. supporting end C is preferably prwidcd with an aperture C which receives the narrowed neck or other nar M ed portion of the bottle. E, the nipple associated with the bottle. projects beyond the supporting end U. Either or both of the l and may be hinged to the base at F but either or both such hinges .1217 be dispensed with. The supporting end C niay have a not h C instead of an opening as indicateo. i; r 3 and the bottle be held.
down into position by the securing piece G or wires. string. elastic or other material sprung in place or secured in any desired manner. Obviously the supporting end B could be supplied with a hole instead of a notch if that were desired. An essential point is that the bottle be supported in inclined position so that its contents will tend to flow toward the nipple. As illustrated in Figs. it and 5 the end support C is rigid with the base A and associated with a hinged or movable support J in this case preferably of wire and arranged to form a loop or opening J smaller than the opening 0 so as to adapt the device for two sizes of bottles. The wire J makes an elastic opening J so as to make the device adaptable for bottles of various sizes.
In the event of the use of a bottle of uniform diameter the forward end of the bot tie is commonly associated with some annular protuberance which may hold the bottle in position in the opening or notch. In such cases the bottle may be securely clamped into position by an elastic holder like thatillustrated in Fig. 5 or by use of the elastic securing piece illustrated in Fig. 3.
in Figs. (3 and 7 l have illustrated means whereby the device may be adapted to hold the bottle at different inclinations. In this case the base A has at its forward end two standards K K. I also provide a sliding plate L having toward one end the opening M. The standards and the plate are associated by means of the tongue and groove so that the plate can slide on the standards and by taking it out and reversing it the relative altitude of the opening may be varied so as to vary the inclination of the bottle.
in Figs. 5%. 9 and 10 is illustrated a swivel device particularly adapted to hold a bottle of uniform cross section.
P is the base from which rises the pivot lug P adapted to receive the pin l on the projection P of the carrying lug P This iug is inclined and grooved at to receive the bottle l. The bottle is preferably held in position by the clamps P 'P which may be made of any desired material as forinstance rubber.
The holes E in the base are intended to afford means for tying or screwing or holding the base down when that becomes
