3 Claims. (Cl. 248-106) This invention relates to bottle holders particularly designed to support bottles for young babies whereby a bottle is held in an inclined position to facilitate feeding and wherein the position of the bottle is adjustable in substantially all directions.
The purpose of this invention is to provide a support for a bottle for a baby wherein the bottle remains in a comfortable position for feeding and the baby may leave the bottle and return without disturbing the position of the bottle.
Various types of supports have been provided for holding nursing bottles for babies and although such devices have been designed to be positioned on flat surfaces or suspended from sides of cribs and other devices it has been found diflicult to adjust the position of the supporting devices to accommodate diiferent positions of the baby and, consequently, such devices have not been considered practical. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a portable stand or support designed to be used in an upright or inclined position whereby a bottle may be suspended above a baby or positioned at one side thereof as may be desired.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide a support for a bottle for a baby in which the support may be moved from one position to another and in which the position of a bottle on the support is readily adjustable.
Another object of the invention is to provide asupport for a bottle for a baby in which the bottle is held by elastic bands so that it may readily be removed for cleaning and sterilizing.
A further object of the invention is to provide a support for a bottle for a baby in which the support is of a simple and economical construction.
With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a base having a threaded opening therein, a stud threaded in the base and having a coupling nut threaded thereon, a stem threaded in the coupling nut, a split swivel threaded on the stem, a bolt having an eye clamped by a thumb nut in the swivel and a platform having slots for rubber bands therein secured by a lock washer on the bolt.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view illustrating the use of the baby bottle support showing a bottle suspended in a feeding position.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the support showing a bottle retained by elastic bands on a platform thereon and also showing the bottle in the feeding position.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section through the support with the parts shown on an enlarged scale, also showing a bottle on a platform thereof and with part of the bottle broken away.
Figure 4 is ,a sectional plan taken on line 4--4 of Figure 2 showing the platform for holding a bottle and 2,909,346 Patented Oct. 20, 1959 ICC withthe intermediate part of ,a bottle shown in broken lines.
Figure 5 is a sectional plan taken on line. 5-5 of Figure 3 showing the swivel for clamping the bottle in adjusted positions on the support.
Referring now to the drawing wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts the improved baby bottle support of this invention includes a base 10 having a stud 11 threaded in an opening 12 in the intermediate part thereof, a coupling nut 13' threaded on the stud 11, a threaded stem 14 threaded in the nut 13 and having a lock washer 15 threaded thereon, a swivel 16 threaded on the outer end of the stem 14 and having jaws 17 and 18 between which an eye 19 of a bolt 20 is clamped by a thumb screw 21, and a platform 22 secured on the bolt 20 by a lock washer 23 and having slots 24 and 25 in one end and 26 and 27 in the opposite end in which rubber bands 28 and 29, respectively, are positioned for holding a bottle 30 on the platform particularly as illustrated in Figures 2 and 3.
The base, platform, and connecting parts may be made of a suitable plastic, or other material, and the edges and corners are rounded to eliminate all sharp edges or corners that may scratch or otherwise injure an infant.
The hub 31 of the swivel 16 is threaded on the stem 14, thereby providing adjustments in the length or height of the support so that the elevation of the bottle may be increased as the baby grows.
Inclined slots 32 extend from outer ends of the elastic band receiving slots to prevent accidental displacement of the bands from the platform.
The bolt 20 is threaded in an opening 33 in the platform and the thumb screw 21 is threaded in an opening 34 in the jaw 18 of the swivel.
With the parts assembled as illustrated and described a bottle is positioned on the platform 22 and retained by the elastic bands 28 and 29, and the device may be used with the support in an upright position, as shown in Figure 2, or in an inclined or substantially horizontal position, as shown in Figure 3, whereby the bottle may be supported at any position convenient to the child.
The hub of the swivel may be provided with a set screw 35 for retaining the swivel on the stem.
It will be understood that modifications, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. A nursing bottle support comprising a base, a supporting member threaded in the base and extended therefrom, a platform having elastic band receiving slots therein, means adjustably mounting the platform on the supporting member, and elastic bands extended through the slots of the platform.
2. A baby bottle support comprising a base having a threaded opening therein, a stud threaded in the opening of the base, a coupling nut threaded on the stud, a threaded stud threaded in an end of the coupling nut opposite to the end threaded on the stud in the base, a swivel threaded on the stem, a bolt clamped in the swivel, a platform having elastic band receiving slots extended therethrough, said platform also having an opening therein into which the bolt is threaded, and elastic bands extended through the slots of the platform and positioned to retain a bottle on said platform.
3. In a baby bottle support, the combination which comprises a base having a threaded opening therein, a stud threaded in the opening of the base, a coupling nut threaded on the stud, a stem threaded in the coupling nut, a lock nut on the stem, a swivel having spaced jaws threaded on the stem, a bolt having an eye positioned between the jaws of the swivel, a thumb screw References Cited in the file of this patent UNITED STATES PATENTS Malpass Apr. 20, Geistlinger Aug. 21, Pettit July 3, Alger Aug. 28,
