K014243451 t The present invention relates to improvements in baby bottle holders and has for an object to provide an improved holding device for a babys milk bottle that will relieve a busy mother or nurse of the physical strain and time required in feeding a baby with a baby bottle. Another object of the invention is to provide an improved device of this character which will be susceptible of attachment at a variety of positions along the side of a baby crib with the bottle holder enabled to assume various angular positions and positions of various elevations in order to bring'same to a convenient location for feeding the baby in either recumbent or sitting postures.

A further object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device for accomplishing the above stated purposes which will be easy of application and adjustment to the crib and to the babys position.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention will be more fully described hereinafter and will be more particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto.

Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of the side of a babys crib with the improved device applied thereto.

Figure 2 is a enlarged cross sectional view taken through the bottle holder substantially along the line 22 in Figure 1.

Figure 4 is a plan view of the bottle holder with the straps and the flexible cable broken away.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, 5 designates generally the clamp of U or other shape adapted to be slipped over the rail 6 of the side of a crib and to be moved therealong to any desired position. The clamp may be tightened by a screw 7 or other device.

Extending upwardly from the clamp is a plate 8 having a semi-cylindrical portion 9 for receiv-- ing therein one end of a flexible cable 10 which is clamped to the plate 8 by a companion clamp plate 11, the plates being held together by the use of screws or other fastenings 12.

The inner sides of the clamp jaws 13 and 14 may be covered with baize or other material to avoid scratching or marring the finish of the cradle. The flexible metal cable 10 will be similar to that employed with flexible desk lamps which permits of movement in any direction possessing suficient stiffness toretain the cable in the adjusted position.

The free end of the cable is aflixed in a sleeve 15 which is brazed, welded or otherwise affixed to a spring, horse-shoe shaped bottle holder 16 made of light flexible metal or similar material and having an open mouth at one side to receive a bottle 17 containing milk or other fluid. At the mouth of the holder the sheet metal is coiled outwardly as indicated at 18 in order to provide flaring spring jaws for moving apart when the bottle 17 is introduced between the jaws and of thereafter closing with a light spring pressure upon the bottle suflicient to hold the bottle against accidental removal from the holder.

The sides of the holder carry buckles 19. These buckles, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, are secured near one end of the holder and preferably at approximately 90 from the sleeve 15. The buckles are adapted to adjustably receive the free end portions of straps 20, such straps being secured to the guard 21. The guard consists of a hemisphere of soft rubber, such as would be produced by cutting a hollow rubber ball in half and with the circular edge stiffened by ,a hard ring 22 of rubber or the like. The straps 20 are attached to this reinforced circular edge 22 at diametrically opposite points. The diameter of the hemisphere may be about five inches.

In the center of the convex surface of the hemisphere is an opening 23 large enough to permit the neck of the baby bottle 17 passing therethrough. The rubber of the hemisphere is flesh colored and soft to simulate a mother's breast, the nipple 24 of the bottle projecting through the center.

In the useof the device the bottle is filled and the nipple put on. The bottle with nipple on is then inserted in the holder 16, the neck of the bottle passing through the hole 23 in the guard 21 which remains attached to the holder 16, unless it is desired to remove it for cleaning. The guard 21 is attached to the holder by means of straps 20, which engage with the buckles 19. The buckles may be of the prong type and minor adjustments ofthe position of the bottle may be made by means of these straps, but the guard is securely attached to the holder and may notv be pulled away.

The straps 20 may be about four inches in length. The flexible cable is preferably about two feet long. This flexible cable permits of bringing the guard and bottle in a center plumb line of any, crib or cradle and by twisting the cable permits the bottle holder to lie in the vertical plane of the center line at any angle desired to the horizontal plane of the crib or cradle and as far above the horizontal plane as desired within limits.

It will be obvious that various changes in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made whichcould be used without supported adjustably by the cablelfor-receivinga departing from the spirit of my invention, and I do not mean to limit the invention to suchdetails except as;.;par ticularly' pointed out in the r l l 4, {4

Having thus described my invention, what I 'claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent hi the United States is:-

1.
