Description
C. C. LITTLE. RBCEPTAGLE HOLDER. APPLICATION PILBD 00T.9, 1907.
Patented sept. 1511908,
wmv/53353 i CHARLES CHASE LITTLE, OF SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA.
RECEPTACLE-HOLDER.
l Application filed October 9, 1,907. Serial No, 396,585.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CHAELEs CHASE LIT- TLE, a citizen of the United States, 4and a resident of San Jose, in the county of Santa Clara and State of California, have invented a new and Improved Receptacle-Holder, of which the following is a4 full, clear, and exact descrrlipltion.
A 's invention is an improvement in holders vfor cups, glasses and other like receptacles more especially constructed for the use of water color painters in outdoor sketching, and is ada ted to be applied to the cross bar lpor other support, in a manner to carry the glass in an upright position.
The object of the invention primarily is to l provide a holder of simple andinexpensive construction having a seat for the glass, with means for embracing the body thereof when Iplaced on the seat, and for attaching .the
older to a support.
Reference is to be had to the accompany ing drawings forming a part of this specification, in whlch 'similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the preferred embodiment of my improved holder showing a glass carried thereby in dotted outline; and F1 2 is a plan-view of the same.
In the referred construction of my improved ho der an arm 10, made of a single piece of wire in' the form of a yoke, has t e central ortion thereof bent to provide a loop 11 whic is adapted to receive a screw in attaching itto the crossbar of an easel or other support. The free ends of the yoke 10 are coiled to form apertures and with the extremities thereofoutwardly turned to provide stops 12. Received within the apertures formed by the coiled free ends of the i yoke' are the oppositely turned ends of a4 anger- 13, the said hanger being also made of a single piece of wire having the'lower ortion thereof bent in U-form to provide a ase 1,4, which is arranged at substantially right angles to' the han er and extends in a reverse direction from t e arm 10; By this construction it is apparent the hanger 13 and its attached lbase 14 may be swung on the arm 10 as a pivot, over the support to'which the arm is attached, .thus carrying it to a 'removed position when not in use. When the Specification of Letters Patent.
the hanger 13 are attached Patented Sept. 15,1908.
hanger and base are turned to the position illustratedf the hanger will contact with they stops 12 and be thereby held against further inward movement. To the opposite sides of s ring arms 15, also constructed of wire an made in the form of loops, `the ends of whichv are rigidly fastened to the hanger by twisting the wire of the loops thereabout as is most clearly shown in Fig. 1. The spring arms will yield to conform to theshape of the glass, o r other receptacle, when seated on the base, and will embrace the body thereof, thus preventing its accidental dis lacement from'the holder.
While I have s own only one form of my invention, it is "ap arent that various other modifications of tiie same might be made,
and I consider that I am'entitled to such changes as fall within the scope of the claims annexed.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent,'- y
1. A receptacle holder comprising a wire hanger havin the lower portion thereof bent at substantia ly ri ht-angles thereto into U- form to provide a ase on which the bottom of the receptacle is adapted to seat, a wire arm of substantially U-form from which the hanger is supported and extending in an 0pposite direction from that of the base and m a plane substantially parallel therewith when the holder is in normal position, and wire loops rigidly attached -at each side of the hanger providing spring-arms to bindingly embrace the receptacle when seated on said base.
A receptacle holder, comprising a wire arm bent into the form of a Yyoke Withthe free ends thereof coiled to provide apertures,
a wire hanger having thevfree ends 'thereof oppositely turned and arranged within said apertures, the lower portion of said hanger being angularly bent to provide a base, and
.means carried by the hanger for embracing the receptacle when seated on said base.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presencey of two subscribing Witnesses. I
CHARLES CHASE LITTLE.
