' CLOCK MOUNTING.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD E. SIMoNs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Allentown, in the county of Lehigh and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Clock Mountings, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to clock mountings or frames and it has for its main object to provide a novel and effective mounting or support for alarm clocks whereby they are rendered artistic in appearance and their utility is in no way impaired.

Another object is to provide a clock mounting of the kind referred to which whilst properly supporting the clock renders same easily turnable around for winding or rewinding-as well as permitting same to be set at any angle for easy viewing without moving thebase proper.

A further object is to provide-a simple, cheap and neat appearing mounting for clocks of the type referred to.

With the foregoing and other objects in View this invention consists essentially in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and more specifically defined by the appended claims.

In the further disclosure of the invention reference is to be had to the accompanying sheet of drawings constitutin a part of this specification and in whichlike characters of reference designate the same parts in all the views. i C

Referring to the drawings the numeral 4 designates a base conveniently though not essentially-of wood, substantially rectangular in plan and having a moulded front and side edges 5, 6, respectively, said base being mounted on rubber feet 7 to prevent slippage. a thin metallic or other appropriate washer 12 being interposed between the base 4 and mounting 11 to prevent friction or binding of said parts.

Although I have shown the mounting 11 as hexagonal it will be perfectly obvious the same may be of any other pattern or shape in configuration, and said mounting is appropriately bored transversely to provide a seat 13 for the alarm clock 14; of like diameter, notches or recesses 15 being cut out at the back to accommodate the usual legs or feet, whilst the upper rear portion is also notched out or cut away at 16 to accommodate the stem and carrying ring as will be clearly understood on an examination of the drawings. It is also to be remarked that the mounting 11 is pivoted relatively nearer the front edge 5 of the base 4 in order to balance the clock 14 evenly and prevent its falling or tending to fall backwards, due to its weight and the manner in which it is poised. Flatsprings or the like 17 pivoted on cap screws 18 are opposedly mounted on the back of the mounting 11 and shaped as shown most clearly in Figure 3, their function being to securely clamp over the edge of the clock 14 when placed in said mounting, whilst providing a simple means whereby the clock can be readily removed when desired. The front face of the mounting 11 is appropriately moulded at 19 to give a finished appearance to the clock face.

From the foregoing it will be clearly apparent that by my invention there is provided an extremely attractive and serviceable mounting for alarm clocks whereby they can be promptly converted into an artistic adjunct to the household, and whilst there has been shown and described one practical embodiment thereof the same is clearly susceptible of modification in detail as well as shape and configuration: and the right is hereby reserved to make such changes and variations as fairly lie within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A mounting for alarm clocks comprising a base, an annular frame vertically pivoted on said base, said frame having notched outputs in its back part to house the clock legs'and carrying stem. and clamping springs for gripping the back of the alarm clock whereby it is securely held in lace. p 2. A mounting for alarm clocks comprising a base substantially rectangular in plan and having a moulded front and side edges, rubber feet adapted to support said base, an opening formed axially central of the base, a pivot pin adapted to enter said opening, a hexagonal frame having an opening formed in the bottom thereof and the upper end of said pivot pin being securely sized Within said opening, a thin metallic Washer interposed between said base and mounted, said mounting being bored transversely to provide a seat and notches formed in the back of said mounting to accon'lmodate the legs of a clock,.an alarm clock mounted on said seat, said mounting at the upper rear portion being notched to accommodate the stem and carrying ring of the clock.

3. A mounting for alarm clocks comprising a base and a frame swivelly mounted on said base, said mounting being transversely bored to provide a seat for the alarm clock and notches formedin the back thereof to accommodate the legs of the clock, said mounting at the upper rear portion being notched and a stem and carrying ring received therein, said mounting being pivoted relatively near the front edge of the base in order to evenly balance the clock to prevent its falling.
