I J. J. ELLIOTT MILK BOTTLE HOLDER Filed Aug. 15.. 1923 gwwnto'o Patented Oct. 14, 1924.
UNlTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB JAMES ELLIOTT, OF BETHLEHEM, PENNSYLVANIA.

Application filed. August 13, 1923. Serial No. 657,221.
T all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAcon JAMES ELLIOTT,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Bethlehem, in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Milk-Bottle Holder, of which'the following is a specification.
This invention relates to milk bottle holders of the type used for receiving milk bottles delivered by themilkman.
The object of the invention is to provide a simply constructed, cheap and efficient dethat changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention. In the accompanying drawings I Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a milk bottle holder constructed in accord ance with this invention shown applied with i a bottle in upright position shown in dotted lines therein; and
FignreQ is a front elevation of the holder detached.
In the embodiment illustrated, the holder 1 is constructed of a single piece of heavy wire bent to form a plurality of coils 2 of uniform size, any desired number of which may be employed, four being here shown, the lowermost of which merges into a smaller coil 3 designed to form a rest for the bottom of the bottle shown at B in dotted lines. This coil 3 terminates in a downwardly inclined arm 5 with a depending right anguwhich is designed to be secured to a suitable lar loop or eye 7 termed thereon designed to rest flat against a supporting surface 10 and be secured by a suitable fastening here shown in the form of a screw 8. I
The upper coil 2 merges into an upwardly 5 inclined arm. 4 having a depending: right angular attaching eye 6 located in. the same plane as the eye 7 and which is secured to the support 10 by a screw 8 or other suitable fastener.
In the use of the device it being applied as shown in Fig. 1, the milkman will deliver the bottles B in upright position into the holder the bottle passing down through the coils 2. with ts bottom coming to rest on 00 the smaller coil These holders are preferably made of different sizes to fit either quart or pint bottles.
When the bottle has been emptied and washed it is placed in the holder in inverted 66 position wit-lithe mouth of the bottle restmg on the coil 3. In this position the bottle willdrain and be more or less protected from the entrance of dirt, litter. or rain.
Various changes in the form, shape, pro- 70 portion and other minor details of construction may be made without departing from the principle 'or sacrificing any of the advantages of the claimed. invention. I I claim A milk bottle holder in the form of a unitary structure consisting of a single heavy wire bent to form a spiral, a plurality of the coils of which. are of uniform size, the lowermost coil being smaller to form a rest for the bottle, and the terminal coils being equipped with attaching eyes.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed by signature in the presence of two witnesses JACOB JAMES ELLIOTT;
