Description
Patented Dec. 21,
JOSEPH J. Lnwrs, OF'ISSAQUAH, WASHINGTON.
BAiT HOLDER.
Application filed May 9, 1925 Serial No.,29,174..
Theinvention is a bracket for holding cans of salmon eggs or the like so that they may be normally held in thevertical position and readily tipped over to dump the eggs into a persons hand or so that the eggs And a further object of the invention is to provide a bracket forholding a can or the like in the vertical position, which will permit the can to be tilted without releasing it. With these ends in view the invention embodies an L shaped bracket having a loopat the upper end, a'clip adjacent and a hinge at the lower end to which a secondary L shaped bracket with another clip at its upper end is attached. v i
Other features and advantages of the invention will app-ear from the following description, taken in connection with the drawings, wherein V Figure 1 is a side elevation of the bracket, showing the can tilted in dotted lines.
Figure 2 is a plan view showing the upper clip with the upper end of the loop in section.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the lower clip. In the drawings I have shown my device as it would be made wherein numeral 1 in- I material with a vertical member 4, a horizontal member 5 and a loop 6 formedat the upper'end by bending the member 4 over and downward and attaching the end to the member at the point 7 The outer endofis provided with a hinge 8 to which the horizontal member 9 of the bracket 2 is also attached. The bracket 2 is also provided with a vertical member 10 which extends upward to a pointabout midway of the member 4 of the bracket 1.
The vertical member of the bracket 1 is provided with a clip 11 which holds the can somewhat freely and the vertical member of the bracket 2 is provided with a clip 12 which holds the can comparativelyrigid and it will be observed that by pushing the can outward, it may be moved out of the clip ll and at the same time held by the-clip 12 so thatit may be tilted to the position shown in It'will beuuderstood that changes nay be made in the construction without departing from the spirit of the invention. .One of which changes may be in the design of either 4 FFICEQ it of the brackets, another may be in the means I for attaching the bracket'toa persons gar-' ment or belt, and still another may be in the use of other means for holding the can in the bracket. v g V The construction will be readily understood'from the foregoing description. use the device, the bracketmay be held to a persons side by placing the belt through the loop 6 or by attaching it to the garment with a safety pin or the like. It will be ob:
served that the clip 11 will normally hold the can in the vertical position a'ndthe clip 12 will positively hold the can to the bracket, so that the can may readily be forced out of the clip 11 untila salmonegg or the like is dropped or upset. It'is also understood that any type of utensil may be used; in place of the can as may be desired.. 7
Having thus fully described the invention,
what Iclaim as new and-desire to secure V m) other ,Spring clip to hold a can-or the like rigidly to thesa d latter member, thereby allowing the can or the like to be swung removed therefrom andthen snapped back 3 into the clip 11 without danger of its being outwardly and downwardly by releasing the spring clip on the's'aid" former member.
JOSEPH J. LEWIS,
