Description

y 1932- c. SORRENTINO 1,861,368
MILK BOTTLE CARR TEE Filed Sept: 17 1950 07" s (K f CizarZea'Jarrenfzhgmmm ATTORNEY Patented May 31, 1932 UNITED STATES CHARLES SORRENTINO, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO MILK BOTTLE CARRIER Application filed September 17, 1930. Serial No. 482,609.
This invention relates to a carrier for milk bottles and the like, the general object of the invention being to provide a frame for supporting the bottle and a handle connected with the top of the frame whereby the bottle can be easily carried without danger of dropping the same.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing which shows the invention in perspective.
As shown in this view, the device comprises upper and lower rings 1 and spaced vertically extending bars 2 which have their ends bent around the rings, as shown. In order to prevent sliding movement of the bars on the rings, I provide brace members 3 for connecting the bars together in pairs. Each brace member has its ends wrapped around a pair of the bars, as shown at 4, and the central part of the member is twisted about a part of the ring, as shown at 5. Thus each pair of bars is connected with a ring and with each other by a brace member. As shown, I prefer to connect each brace member with the upper ends of one pair of bars and each lower brace member is connected with the lower end of one of the bars of a pair and with a bar of another pair. Cross bars 6 are connected with the bottom ring and form a support for the bottom of the bottle, shown in dotted lines in the drawing.
A pair of bars 7 is each bent and twisted into the form of an inverted V, with the lower ends of the limbs of the V bent around the top ring, as shown at 8, and the apex of each V-shaped member is twisted together to form an eye 9 for receiving the ends of the yoke-shaped handle member 10. A handle 11 is placed on the bight of this yoke-shaped member.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided an inexpensive device for holding a milk bottle or the like and which has a handle at its upper end so that the device, with the bottle therein, can be easily carried without danger of dropping the bottle. The various parts of the device can be formed of wire, as shown.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A bottle carrier comprising a pair of uniformly sized rings arranged in vertical spaced relation with respect to each other, a plurality of vertical wire members having their ends twisted about the rings at equidistances apart, brace members twisted about adjacent vertical members and said rings for securing the said vertical members to the rings and in spaced relation to each other, cross wires connected with the lowermost ring to form a bottom for a support for a bottle when inserted through the upper ring between the vertical wire members, substantially V-shaped inverted hangers having their ends coiled about the upper ring and spaced one from the other, and an inverted substantially U- shaped handle loosely hinged to said hangers and adapted to swing ontothe hangers at either side of its pivotal connection therewith for permitting free removal of a bottle through the upper ring.
In testimony whereof I afix my signature.
CHARLES SORRENTINO.
