H. BELL CARRIER FOR CONTAINERS AND THE LIKE Filed Aug. 16. 1922 Patented June 19, 1923.
TES
HORACE BELL, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
CARRIER FOR CONTAINERS AND THE LIKE.
Application filed August 16, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HORACE BELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Carriers for Containers and the like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is designed to simplify and improve carriers for receptacles, such as milk bottles.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein is shown a side elevation of the carrier with a milk bottle in place therein.
The carrier is formed of a spiral coil of wire 1 of a size to receive the receptacle or bottle 2. The coil is restricted at 3, forming a bottom of the receptacle. The coil is extended below the restriction 3 by a coil 4 so as to form a cushion support for the carrier that will absorb the shock should the carrier be dropped. A bottom coil 5 is horizontally arranged at the end of the extension 4 and forms the base of the carrier. This coil may be, and preferably is slightly larger than the restricted coil 3 so as to form a more stable base for the carrier.
A bail 6 is secured to the top coil of the carrier by loops 7, formed in the ends of the bail these eyes extending around the top coil. The top coil is preferably formed in a horizontal direction and is provided with the bent end 8, forming an obstacle which prevents the accidental disengaging of the ends of the loops 7 from the end coil of the carrier.
What I claim as new is l. A carrier formed of a spiral coil of Serial No. 582,270.
wire having a restricted coil at the bottom forming the bottom of the carrier.
2. A carrier for containers and the like, formed of spiral coil having a container support at the bottom and means at the top of the coil forming atcarrying handle.
3. A carrier for containers and the like formed of a spiral coil of wire having a restricted coil at the bottom, the coil being extendedbelow the restriction to form a base for the carrier.
4. A carrier for containers and the like formed of a spiral coil of wire having a restricted coil at the bottom, and the coil enlarged below the restriction to form the base of the carrier.
5. A carrier for containers and the like formed of a spiral soil of wire having a means of support for the container at the bottom and a bail connected at the upper end of the coil. 60
6. A carrier for containers and the like formed of a spiral coil of wire having a means at its bottom to support a container,
a bail having loops around. the coil at its top, the end of the top coil having an ob- 65 stacle preventing the accidental disengaging of the loops. 7 i
7. A carrier for containers and the like formed of a spiral coil of wire having a restricted coil forming a container support, 7 the coil being extended below the restriction forming a cushion base for the container and a bail secured to the upper end of the coil. i
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set 7 my hand.
HORACE BELL.
