Description

Sept. 13, 1932. p ARONSTAM 1,877,636
DISPENSER Filed 'July 28, 1930 BQI/Ll/YE HRONSZHM ATTORNEY Patented Sept. 13, 1932 PATENT OFFICE PAULINE ARONSTAM, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DISPENSER Application filed July 28,
This invention relates to containers in general and particularly to covers for containers. One of the objects of my invention is to provide containers having a bottom fill opening and a reduced top discharge opening with suitable means for preventing dirt, dust or flies to pass through the upper discharge opening into the container while the latter stands upright and to permit the discharge of the contents of the container without manual help when said container is tilted downwards.
In said drawing: Fig. 1 illustrates a container to which a modified form of my device is attached.
modified form of my device; and
Fig. 3 is a still further modification of my device capable of being attached to an existing container. In Fig. 1 again is illustrated a container 22 V with a bottom closure 23 and a reduced discharge portion 24. In Fig. 2 is illustrated my detachable device consisting of a circularly shaped member 25 having enlarged curved slip-on ends 26. From about the central portion of the curved member 25 extends upwardly standard 26, the upper end of which is curved as seen at 27 to conform to the shape of the upper portion of the container 22. I
At the upper end portion of standard 26' there will be seen a hinge 28 which engages a the hinge portion of cover 29 provided with a weight 30.
A similar arrangement is shown in Fig. 3 where instead of fiat material used in the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2 a wire is bent to about the shape conforming to that shown Fig. 2 illustrates a perspective view of that l 1930. Serial No. 471,356.
hinge portion 35 of cover 36 provided with weight 37.
The hereinbefore described construction admits of considerable modification without departing from the invention; therefore, it is the wish not to be limited to the precise arrangements shown and described, which are as aforesaid, by way of illustration merely. In other words the scope of protection contemplated is to be taken solely from the appended claims, interpreted as broadly as is consistent with the prior art.
What I claim as new is:
1. A closure structure for containers comprising an open resilient loop having outwardly bent end portions, said loop being adapted to embrace the body portion of a container and to be disposed in a horizontal position thereon, lid-supporting means extending above the loop at right angles thereto and adapted to lie against the container in a vertical position, a hinge secured to the upper end of the said means and a lid secured to the hinge to cover the mouth of the container.
2. A closure structure for containers comprising an open resilient loophaving outwardly bent end portions, said loop being adapted to embrace thebody portion of a container and to be disposed in a horizontal position thereon, lid-supporting means extend- 30 ing above the loop at right angles thereto and adapted to lie against the container in a vertical position, a hinge secured tothe upper end of the said means and a lid secured to the hinge to cover the mouth of the container, 5 said loop and said means being formed from a single piece of wire bent to form spaced parallel sections for the loop and the lid-supporting means respectively.
In testimony whereof I hereby afiiX my signature.
PAULINE ARONSTAM.
