ALBERT P. STOGUM, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA.
HOLDER FOR MILK-BOTTLES.
Application filed January 29, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT P. S'rooUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Milk-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to holders for milk bottles and has for its object to provide a device of this character which will be simple in construction, easily put up where desired, shall be eflicient and capable of use with different sizes of bottles. 7
In carrying out the objects of my invention I construct a device of a single strand of wire so formed that a holder is provided for the neck of the bottle and a yielding spiral member for the bottom of the bottle, the wire member being secured to a wall by means of staples or otherwise.
The full objects and advantages of my invention will appear in connection with the detailed description thereof and are particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, illustrating the application of my invention in one form, Figure 1 is a side view of my device as secured to the wall, there being indicated in dotted lines the manner in which two sizes of bottles may be held secured by the device. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the holder. Fig. 3 is a front view of the same.
In the construction of my device I use a single wire, which is formed at the upper portion thereof with a pair of loop arms 10, 11 yielding in character so as to permit the neck of a bottle to be forced between the same, when said neck will be clasped and held. From. the loop arm 10 a strand of the wire 12 extends vertically to the lower portion of the device, Where it is first curved into approximately a plane circle 13 and then carried inwardly and upwardly in a spiral 1 1. From the other arm 11 a vertical member 15 extends downwardly and is secured at 16 to the bottom coil 13. If desired,
{specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 5,114.
a metal plate 17 may be secured to the members 12 and 15, and, when the device is positioned against a wall, will furnish a receptacle for the tickets and a nameplate, if desired. The holder is positioned upon the wall by nailing staples 18 over the wires 12 and 15. When in this position the arms 10, 11 provide a receptacle for the neck of the bottle, While the upstanding spiral 14 will enter the hollow indicated at 19 in the bottle and the bottle is firmly secured both above and below. The spiral 14 will yield sufficiently to accommodate bottles of different sizes.
The advantages of my device will be apparent. It can be constructed very cheaply and put up on the side of a building, porch pillar, or in any position where there is a wall or a post. In the ordinary size it will hold either pint or quart bottles perfectly.
These bottles can be placed in or removed from the holder by a, mere movement of the hand. As many of the holders as may be desirable may be secured to any support, so that provision can readily be made for users of more than one bottle.
I claim:
1. A holder for milk bottles, comprising a standard for securing the same to a wall, a pair of yielding arms extending clownwardly from said standard for receiving and clasping the neck of the bottle, and a spiral spring member for engaging in the hollow portion of the bottom of the bottle.
2. A holder for milk bottles, comprising a single strand of wire formed with standard portions for attachment to a wall, a pair of yielding loop members for engaging and clasping the neck of the bottle, and a spiral for yieldingly engaging within the hollow portion of the bottom of the bottle.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT P. STOCUM. Witnesses H. A. BOWMAN, F. A. l/VI-IITELEY.
