My invention concerns boxes or containers for articles which make it of great importance that though necessarilymade of pieces of Wood,ithe joints unavoidable. in the con-' st'ruction shall be so tight as to-beproof against the admission of insects or air, and in particular to boxes for mounting entomological or other natural history'specimens. In such a box it is important that no joint exists in the box sufliciently' open to permit I the entrance .of moths or other insects, because they feed upon and destroy such specimens. Although the making of such boxes is done with great skill and of-kiln-dried lumber, the best of them being putin dry places 5 I orsubject to atmospheric and temperature changes willfrom the shrinkage and expan-.

Describing in detail thebox or container shown in the drawings, it is of rectangular form consisting of .four side walls, 10, conof a box emsisting of strips of wood securely united'at the 'four corners and with a top cover or closure, 11, of glass which at its edges fits in grooves in the inner sides of the side walls, the joints being hermetically sealed, as'by the use of white shellac or sodiumsilicate or secured by paper to the top edges. The glass, of course, is to enab-le one, to see specimens that are to be examined while mounted in the box. The box sides rest at their bottom edges upon a rectanglar' bottom closure whose dimensions may match the lateral di-' mensions of the box sides, which closure and the box sides are separable so as to give access to the interior of the box, and-also to as a mounting board for specimens. It is a common-practice to mount specimens upona mounting board and then later to tr'ansfer them to a box, but by my invention a separate i mountingboard is unnecessary. .My com -v bined closure and mounting board in. one, form consists of a thin rectangular board, 12, to the upper side of which is secured'a sheet of easily pinned or penetrated material.
