UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
DANIEL MILLER, OF MARIETTA, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED TOILET-CASES AND TOWEL-ROLLERS.
' Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,288, dated November 23, 1875; application filed April 21, 1e75.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it-known that I, DANL. MILLER, 0t Marietta, in the county of Washington and State of Ohio, have invented a Combined Toilet- Oase and Towel-Roller; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention consists, first, in the combination of a frame-work of peculiar construction with a pivoted tilting receptacle or toilet-case and a towel-roller of peculiar construction 5 and, second, in the specific construction of the roller, all of which will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my invention with the toiletcase open; Fig. 2, a central sectional elevation of the same. Fig. 3, partial perspective view of the towel-roller, with its parts separated Fig. 4, similar view of the parts united.
A represents a frame-work consisting, essentially, of the back-board a, top piece a and sides a? M, which latter are extended in a downward direction to furnish proper bearings B represents a triangular box or receptacle, consisting of the back board I), which, when the box is closed, serves as the bottom of the box, sides 12 b and bottom board 11 which, when the box is closed, forms the front b 5*, represents division-strips adapted to form a receptacle for a comb or other similar article. 12 represents a supporting-ledge, by means of which the box is held in position when closed, and b a catch, which is adapted to hold the box in position when opened, the said catch being fastened to the under side of the top piece a of the frame- Work A, as shown in Fig. 2. 0 represents a roller made in two parts 0 and 0 one of which, 0, is provided at each end with pins 0 0 which rest in bearings 0 0 in the down wardlyand one end of the towel plac d between them,
as shown in Fig. 2, after which the parts are again united together by drawing over the ends of the securing-rings, as shown. The roller then being replaced in its bearings the towel is ready for use.
I am aware that it is not new to make rollers in two parts, and unite them for use by means of cylindrical caps, but this construction differs materially from mine. 4
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. As an improved article of furniture, a toiletcase, consisting of the frame work A, the tilting comb and brush case B, and towel-roller 0, constructed and combined as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of the box B with the catch 12 and ledge b arranged as described and shown.
3. The combination of the split roller c and c with the ring D and securing-staples, as
described.
This specification signed and witnessed this 17th day of April, A. D. 1875..
