IMPROVEMENT IN CRACKER SHOW-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,905, dated October 19, 1875; application filed April 24, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, CASPER KROEGER and WERNER KROEG-ER, of the city and county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented an Improvement in Cracker Show-Gases, of which the following is a speciification:
The present invention has reference to showcases or drawers designed for containing crackers and other articles for sale; and it consists of adetachable show or sample box, provided with a glass front, and having hooks for attaching it to the fronts of the box or case containing the bulk of the material on sale.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a show or sample box, representing the glass front; Fig. 2, a side view, showing the same attached by means of hooks.
A is the box, in which crackers are kept for sale. These boxes are placed on shelves, or are used as drawers, and are pulled out whenever crackers are to be removed. To show a sample of the contents of the box we apply a detachable box or compartment, B, to the front end of the same. 0 represents the glass, which may be of any form, either set in a frame, as seen in the drawing, or be put in so as to form the whole front of the sample-box or compartment. The latter is made separate from the box containing the bulk of the material, and is attached thereto by means of hooks c, which engage with the top edge of the box A. 1) represents a slide which is dovetailed into the sides of the compartment, as represented in the drawing. D represents the crackers, which are seen through the glass, and which are not disturbed when crackers are removed from the box, or when the box is nearly empty. These sample-compartments are nicely painted or finished, so that when forming the fronts of the cracker-boxes, they make a handsome appearance and add greatly to the efl'ect produced upon customers when they enter the store.
What 1 claim is- A glass-fronted compartment, B, provided with slide b, and hooks c, for attachment to a cracker drawer or box, as shown and described.
