LOUIS PRAHAR, OF NEW YORK, N.
IMPROVEMENT IN POCKET-BOOK FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,93l, dated September 21, 1875; application filed 1 August 21, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS PRAHAR, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pocket-Book Fasteners, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a front view of my improved fastener shown as applied to a pocket-book.
Fig. 2 is an inside view of the same, the inner plate being removed.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention will first be described in connection with drawing, and then pointed out in the claim.
A is the outer plate or case of the fastener, the edges of which are bent inward to form a cavity to receive the latch B and its spring 0. Upon the edge of the plate A are formed points a to be bent down to fasten the inner plate in place, and points a to be passed through the front ply of the pocket-book, and bent down to secure the fastener in place. The forward end of the latch B projects through a notch or slot in the front edge of the plate A to allow it to be moved back to unfasten" the pocket-book. The spring 0 is secured at one end to the latch B, and its other end rests against the turned-down edge of the plate A. Upon the inner end of the latch B is formed a rounded head, I), which enters a cavity or box a formed in the rear end of the plate A to receive it, as shown in Fig. 2, so as to pivot the said latch in place. The shape and size of the box a are immaterial, so long as its inner sides project upon the inner side of the head b, so as to keep the head of the latch B from being drawn out of said box. With this construction the latch and its spring are set forth.
LOUIS PRAHAR. Witnesses: JAMES T. GRAHAM, T. B. MOSHER.
