Description
S. D. C. LANGLEY.
Toy-Hoops or Trundles.
No. 166,931, Patented Aug. 24,1875.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIGE,
SAMUEL D. G. LANGLEY, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY HOOPS OR TRUNDLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,931, dated August 24, 1875; application filed June 18, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL D. O. LANG- LEY, of the city of Erie, State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Bolling-Hoop, of which the following is a specification:
This invention consists of a common rolling or trundle hoop, A, in the center of which is a hub, B, held in its position by rods 0. The pin b is fast on the hub B, and carries a rod, D, of any suitable shape or material, which has a tendency to stay in a perpendicular position, as one end is heavier than the other. The lighter end eis constructed so as to either receive a flag, E, or other suitable decoration, when the hoop is rolled in the usual way, or serve as a handle when the child wishes to impart motion to the hoop by means of the rod D. On or near this same end is fastened a guide, d, passing across the face of the hoop and bent down on the opposite side. The rods 0 are also provided with flags or other decorations, so that the rolling hoop presents a very gay and attractive appearance.
It is obvious that this improved rollinghoop is in every way superior to the hoop in use now, which has neither the gaily-decorated rods 0 and D, nor the advantage the rod D oli'ers, for transmitting motion to the hoop if desired.
I claim as my invention- The improved rolling or trundlehoop, herein described, provided with the decorated rods 0, the hub B, and weighted rod D, all constructed and arranged to operate substantially as specified.
SAMUEL D. O. LANGLEY.
