TOY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 258,381, dated May 23, 1882 Application filed March 27, 1882.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, LYMAN P. CONVERSE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new, novel, and useful Toy, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of toys which when rotated through the air produce a Whizzing or buzzing sound, and is intended for the amusement of children.
The manner of constructing my toy is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side view, partly in section, and Fig. 2 is a front view, ot the toy.

A is a hollow cylinder, closed at each end, and is provided with the apertures C, wire D, and rudder B, having at its u'pper end the swivel Eforconnecting with thestring'l, which is employed for rotating the toy around the hand. As is shown, the wire D is fixed to the (No model.)
cylinder A and crosses the apertures C, being intended to cut the air as it passes through the z5 apertures, the effect of which is to increase the buzzing sound grcatlyover the sound produced when the cylinder is simply provided with the apertures. The rudder B holds the apertures C to the frontas the toyis being rotated through 3o the air, and is an essential part of the same.
Having fully described my toy, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
1. The cylinder A, provided with rudder B, 35 apertures C, wire D, and swivel E, substantially as described.
2. The cylinder A, provided with rudder B and apertures C, substantially as described.
3. The cylinder A, provided with apertures 4o C and wire D, substantially as described.
