My invention relates to clothes treating appliances.

In accordance with my invention, I provide a combined coat hanger and trouser presser and stretcher. The arrangement of parts is such that the presser is suspended from the coat hanger. The several elements constituting the invention are readily detachable and separable and the parts thereof, are, therefore, adapted to be separated and collapsed. The construction is simple and the device has a high degree of utility.

In the drawings, whereln for the purpose of illustration, is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 10 designates a trouser presser, as a whole. This presser embodies a pair of companion strips 11, which may be formed of wood orthe like, and these strips are permanently connected at their inner edges by means of hinges 12 or the like. The, strips 11 are preferably covered upon their inner sides by means of a continuous liner 13, formed of cardboard or the like and this liner passes over the adjacent edges of the strips 11, and

The strips 1 1 are provided upon theirinner front faces with liners 17', which are separate, and are attached to the inner faces of these strips. The inner portions of the liners 17 extend over and across the. passage 16 and substantially cover the same. The liners17 maybe formed of cardboard or the like and are suitably still and relatively flexible. By the provision of the passage 16 and the flcxible liners 17 the outer seam of the trouser legs will not beengaged between the pressing facesof the strips,

which would prevent the proper pressing of the edges or creases in the trousers. The edges of the liners 17 are readily flexed outwardly, as clearly indicated at Figure 6.

The two sets of pressing strips are permanently securedtogether and for this: purpose i one strip 14: is connected with the adjacent strip 11 by means of hinges 18. The leaves of thesehinges fit within recesses cut in the liners 13 and 17 and are flush with the surfaces thereof, whereby a flat surface 1s employed to press the trousers.

The strips 37 are spaced at their inner ends, af-

tording a passage 39 therebetween, for receiving the outer seam of the cult. The sections 37 have'their inner faces covered by a continuous'liner it), formed of cardboard or thelilze which may be attached to the strips 37 by any suitable means. This liner is ties ible and will, therefore, yield into the passagei29- as is obvious.

Operating in conjunction with the trouser presser is a stretching device, embodying a,

generally U-shaped pivotal support 4-1, the

transverse portion T2 of which is slidably mounted within eyes l3, carried by leaves 44. The stretching device embodies a trouser engaging clamp, including a stationary transverse jaw a7, having transverse openings to receive arms 18. The numeral 4-9 designates stops which rigidly engage the arms 48 and prevent the jaw t7 from moving inwardly upon the arms 48. The arms 48 extend outwardly beyond the jaw 47, as shown. It is obvious that the jaw 50 is brought toward the jaw 47 by manipulation of the'tlnunb-nut It might be stated at this point that the upper or Waist portion of the trousers is clamped between the jaws a7 and 50, and while the leg portionsvot the trousers are held between the strips 11 and 14, the trousets may be stretched longitudinally, by

Operating in conjunction with the trouser presser is a coat hanger 56', having a transverse rod '1. his rod slidably receives eves 5S, carriedhy leave 59. As clcarl shown in Figure 3, the leaves 50 are L-shaped and hence oil'- set; forwardly. The coat may, therefore, be suspended from the coat hang r 56 and will lie entirely upon the side o l the trouser presser, the inner side of the coat facing the trouser presser. This will eliminate the necessity of the coat receiving trouser presser.

In view of the foregoing description it: is obvious that the several elements of the device are readily separable. The pressing strips 11 and M may be collapsed, after the removal of the transverse straps therefrom, as indicated in Figure 8. The remaining elements ot the device, with the collapsed strips, may be readily asseml'iled in a hand grip or the like.

In the use of the apparatus, the legs ol' the trousers are arranged between the pressing strips 11 and M, with the. inner seanre adjacent to the passage 16. Suitable pres sure is applied to the trouser legs by screwin; up the thun'ib-nuts 54. The body and waist portion o'l'- the trouser is adapted to be held between the jaws t? and 5t), and the trousers are stretched longitudinally by turning the pivotal support member 38 upon its pivot, as explained.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention, herewith shown and described, is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size andarrangement of parts, n1a be resorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention, or the scope of the subjoined claim.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

In a clothes treating appliance, a trouser pre sing device having a greater length than width, headed studs secured to the trouser pressing device at one end thereof, leaves provided with transverse keyhole openings to receive the headed studs and adapted to a co-acting jaw pivoted upon one arm and be separated from the studs upon being having a transverse slot to receive the other shifted transversely of the trouser pressing arm'and clamping'nuts carried by the arms 10 device, said leaves having eyes, a U-shaped to engage with the co-acting jaw.
