WILLIAM SGHWEINLER, OF KINGSTON, NEW YORK.
TROUSERS-PRESSER.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 19, 1916.
Application filed July 20, 1915. Serial No. 40,958.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, x/VILLIAM SCHWEIN-- ers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suoli as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in garment forms and particularly to trousers pressers and coat hangers.
One object of the invention is to provide a novel and effective device of this character whereby a pair of trousers can be simultaneously suspended and pressed and a coat also hung on the device.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved trouser and coat hanger, Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. l, Fig. 3 is an elevation of the device, the front board being removed, Fig. 4 is an enlarged vertical section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1, Fig. 5 is a transverse ysection on the line 5-5 of Fig. l, and Fig. 6 is a rear elevation of the device.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 and 11 represent a pair of boards hinged together at 12. Detachably mounted on the upper end of the board 10 is a coat hanger 18, the curved arms eX- tending from the sides of the board for insertion in the arms of a coat for supporting the same, the upper end of the board being curved as at 14, to conform with the upper edges of the arms 13.
In the center of the upper end of the device is a suitable ring 15 by means of which the device is suspended. Hinged tothe upper end of the board 25 is a transverse block 1G, one end of which is formed with an opening 17 while the other end is provided with an elongated open-ended slot 18. Set screws 19 are passed respectively through the opening and slot and driven into the face of the board 10. The lower end of the board 11 carries a similar block 20 having the opening 21 and slot 22 to receive the set screws 23. Carried by this block are a pair of turn buttons 24, the purpose of which will appear later.
Hinged to the lower edge of the block 16 is a board section 25 which `has hinged at 2G the upper edge of a board 27. rIhe lower edge of this board 27 is arranged to engage with the face of the board l1 adjacent the block 20, and by turning the buttons 24 over the board 27 the same will be rmly clamped to said board 11. On the lower end of the board 10 and on opposite edges are clamps 28 which are arranged to engage over the outer face of the upper end of the board 27 adjacent its hinged connection so as to hold all of the board sections against movement on their hinges. l
A. pair of trousers are properly folded so as to form their creases and then laid on the boards 10 and 11 with the bottoms of the legs under the upper end of the board 25, and the waist band adjacent the block 20. The boards 25 and 27 are then swung down on to the trousers and the buttons 24 turned to clamp the board 27 in position.
To further insure that the boards will remain rigid, a spring catch 29 is carried by the rear of the board 11 for engagement with a keeper 30 carried by the board 10.
Vhat is claimed is:
A trousers presser comprising a pair` of l WILLIAM SCHWEINLER.
'Witnessesr Josnrri KRIEGER, GEORGE E. Ryan.
