u C aha,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRIEDRICH BERNHARD WALTER, OF DRESDEN, GERMANY.
COMBINED GARNI ENT-HOLDER AND TROUSERS-STRETCHER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 717,147, dated December 30, 1902.
Application led January 7, 1902. Serial No. 88,779. (No model.)
T0 all wir/07W it may concern:
Beit known that I, FRIEDRICH BERNHARD WALTER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at No. 20 Moritzstrasse, Dresden, Saxony, Germany, have invented a new and useful Improved Combined Garment- Holder and Trousers-Stretcher, of Which the following is a description. Y
The present invention relates to a combined garment-holder and trousers-stretcher; and it consists of the details of construction hereinafter set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In order to render the present specification easily intelligible, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference denote similar parts throughout the several views.
Figure 1 is a. front, and Fig. 2 an end, elevation of the device, showing in section a pair of trousers suspended therefrom.
The holder, which is advantageously formed of wire, consists of the bow a, having the hook o at the center, which advantageously extends from a raised shoulder b in order to prevent the collar of the coat from rubbing against the shank of the said hook and getting worn. horizontally and then formed to a circular spring, as at d, and then bent downwardly to form the trousers-stretching part of the device, as at c. The spring portions d render these arms o elastic, so that on placing the ends of the trousers over the same they may be slightly compressed and on being released The ends ofthe bow a are bent around they will expand and stretch the trousers ends to the required creases. At the center, where the arms c meet, a screw e, advantageously a thumb-screw, is provided, and when this screw is tightened up the two members of the arms c will be clamped together, and thus the trousers will be clamped in the stretcher portion of the device and prevented from falling out or off the same.
In use the coat and Waistcoat are hung on the bow in the ordinary well-known manner. The trousers are then turned upside down and the ends of each leg pulled one over each member of the double arms c, as indicated in Fig. 2 at f. The screw e may then be tightened up and the trousers will be secured in position, the spring arms c holding them stretched to the required crease.
, I claim as my invention- A combined garment-holder and trousersstretcher consisting of the bow, having a shoulder formed thereon from which the suspender-hook rises, the ends of the said bow being bent to form spring-arms for the trousers and a screw to clamp the said springarms together and retain the trousers on the saine in the manner and for the purpose substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
FRIEDRICH BERNHARD WALTER.
