Description

3%,, WU K. H. HUSTEDE 5 9 SUIT HANGER Filed Aug. 21, 1946 ATTORNEYS Patented May 30, 1950 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
My present invention relates to an improved garment hanger and more particularly to the type of hanger designed to support in proper fashion a coat and vest, and also to support from the ends one or two pairs of trousers in such manner that they will be supported in wrinkle-free fashion and will be easily attached and detached from the hanger.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the hanger of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the hanger of my invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view thereof; and
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view.
Referring now to the drawings wherein like characters indicate like parts, I have illustrated the present embodiment of my invention as comprising a vertical support 2 formed with the supporting hooks 4, and while I have here illustrated two hooks for convenience of hanging upon a suitable bar it will be apparent that one hook may well be employed.
A curved coat hanger bar 6 extends from either side of the vertical supporting bar below the hooks and the outer ends of the curved coat bar are connected by the base bar 8. The structure described above may be made of suitable material such as plastic or wood, or light weight metal and the elements thereof, are normally integral.
Whereas in the conventional hanger, the trousers are normally hung over the base bar and may slide ofi the bar, or if the hanger is inclined may slide to one end thereof, I have so formed the base bar as to avoid those difi'iculties.
The base bar 8 is formed with parallel clips l2 extending from the solid ends ll! of the hanger and these clips are spaced from the base bar a suificient distance to permit the retention therebetween of the lower portion of the trouser legs immediately above the cuffs, the spaces being indicated as at M.
The free ends of the clips l2 are curved outwardly as at l6 and the end portions of the base bar walls forming the spaces I4 are also curved outwardly as at I8 to form with the clip ends l6, curved guideways into the spaces. The clips will normally have a degree of inherent resiliency so that as the front or rear creases of the trousers are aligned and inserted through the guideway the clips will give slightly and permit the ready entrance of the trousers. The cufis being located above the clips will support the trousers in proper manner and free of wrinkles.
The two clips, one on each side of the base bar will permit the support of two pairs of trousers, a distinct advantage where as is common, many mens suits comprise a coat, vest, and two pairs of trousers. Either pair may, of course, be attached or detached without disturbing the other pair.
From the above description it will be apparent that the hanger of my invention is simple to manufacture and will prove durable and capable of supporting all the component parts of a suit of clothes in a manner which will eliminate the tendency to wrinkle and which will at the same time permit the attachment and detachment of the trousers with facility.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and. desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A garment hanger comprising a bowed coat bar, a base bar connecting the outer bow ends of said bar, a vertical support formed integral with the central portion of said base bar at the lower end of said support, said support being :formed integral with the central portion of said bowed coat bar and having oppositely diverging hook members at its upper end. said base bar having longitudinally extending parallel open ended slots with the slots being positioned with their open ends in opposed relation to each other to form trouser clips and said clips having outwardly flared ends to permit easy entrance and to guide the trousers into the slots for the hanging thereof.
