1 Claim.
This invention relates to improvements in garment hangers and more particularly to the pro- Vision of a device especially designed for hanging trousers, womens skirts, and the like.
Heretofore, hangers for supporting pants, trousers, skirts, and the like have included clamps which grip the pants adjacent the cuff, leaving the body portion of the pants hanging down. As a result, money, keys, and other articles which may be in the pockets of the pants, fall out on to the floor. Also, by hanging by the cuff section of the pants, a noticeable crease or wrinkle is created.
It is, therefore, an object of this invention to provide a pants hanger having means for supporting the pants bythe belt loops at the body section, so that the cuffs hang down.
A further object is to provide a hanger for pants or skirts, or similar articles, which can be quickly and easily attached to a garment, without requiring the use of clamps, safety pins, or the like.
A further object is to provide a pants, or skirt hanger, which is simple in structure, and capable of being manufactured at a low cost.
These and other objects are attained by the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and illustrated by the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof, and in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a garment hanger embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the device.
Fig. 3 is a plan view showing the hanger supporting a pair of pants.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the hanger supporting pants.
Referring to the drawings, the hanger for supporting pants and the like, is shown to comprise a supporting hook 2 with arms 4 and la extending outwardly and downwardly from each side of the hook 2. The end of arm i has a portion 3 bent at an angle to arm I and back towards hook 2 as shown at 4. The hook 2 is designed to support the hanger on a rod, or
means projecting from a wall, as ordinarily used for supporting garment hangers. The portions 3 and 4 provide a hook adapted to pass through a loop I B at the rear of the body portion of pants or the like. (See Fig. 4.)
The end of the other arm la has a section 5 bent back towards the hook 2 at an angle to one side of arm la. The section 5 isintegral with a section 6 bent back along section '5 and around the junction of arm la and section 5 and back towards hook 2 at an angle to the other side of arm la as shown at l, and further bent back along itself as shown at 8. The above structure at the end of arm la provides two hooks to engage belt loops 9 at the front of the body portion of pants. The entire pants hanger is made from a single piece of wire.
Obviously, the device can be used to support womens skirts which may be provided with belt loops.
In its simplest form the device is made of wire such as employed in the manufacture of very inexpensive garment hangers. However, it is obvious that the hanger can be made from a plastic material, rods, or other materials to provide the two forward hooks and the rear hook.
As will be seen from the drawings, the hanger can be also used to support a coat in the same manner as the well known coat hanger,
From the above description it will be seen that there has been provideda simple and inexpensive hanger for pants, skirts, and the like, which requires no clamps, pins, etc. and which creates no crease in the pants adjacent the cuiTs. The hanger supports the pants from the loops provided for a belt on the body portion of the pants, and consequently, articles in the pockets of the pants will not fall out when supported by the hanger.
As stated above, the device can be made by twisting wire as is common in coat hangers, or it can be stamped out of sheet metal, or molded from a plastic material or the like.
above description is to be considered as illustrative and not limitative of the invention, or which modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claim.
The invention having been described, what is claimed is:
A device made from a single piece of wire for supporting pants by the belt loops, comprising a hook, a first arm extending outwardly and downwardly from one side of the hook, the end portion or the first arm having a first section bent at an angle to one side of the first arm and back towards the hook, a second section integral with the first section and bent back along the first section and around the junction of the arm and the first section and at an an le to the other side of the first arm and back towards the hook, and a second arm extending outwardly and downwardly from the other side of the hook, the end portion of the second arm being bent at an angle to the second arm and back towards the hook.
