Description

June 23, 1942. w. H. GLINES PANTS Am: SKIRT HANGER Filed March 31, 1911 Patented June 23,
' TATES 'pNT OFFICE This invention relates to improvements in hangers and has particular reference to a retaining means for trousers and skirts that are suspended primarily to retain the creases in the trouser legs and to eliminate wrinkles in the same and to likewise eliminate wrinkles in skirts.
The principal object of the invention i the provision of a clamp or bracket in combination with the trouser retaining means, whereby the clamp may be conveniently slid along a supporting rod or the like.
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for removably connecting the bracket to the garment supporting surface.
An additional object of the invention is the provision of a hinged or pivotal relationship of the clamp with the garment supporting means, whereby the said clamp may be readily positioned adjacent to or spaced from the garment supporting means.
A. further object of the invention is the prometallic construction and embodies therein a pair of downwardly extending arms 8 that are connected at their upper extremities by a cross member ID, the said arms being slightly curved. as at H, so that the bracket may be readily suspended from a pole or like supporting medium.
tremities of the arms are bent upon themselves vision of a device of this character that is simple in construction,.is economical to manufacture, is highly serviceable in use, and one that is most durable and attractive in appearance.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the device constructed in accordance with my invention;
Fig. 2 is a cross section through the device, the view being taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the invention; and
Fig. 4 is a rear elevation, showing a modified form of the invention in which the bracket is pivotally arranged with relation to the garment supporting means.
In the accompanying drawing wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates as a whole the garment support, which support embodies in its construction a back portion 6 that has extending therefrom a plurality of spaced bars or fingers I, the extremities of the bars being rounded or pointed to facilitate the in-' sertion of the garment to be suspended between the respective intermediate bars.
As disclosed to advantage in the figures of the drawing, it will be noted that I detachably secure to the garment support the spaced bent arms of a bracket or clamp, designated as a whole by the numeral 0. The said bracket is of to provide extremities I 5 that are receivable in the recesses i4, and to also provide curved portions it adapted to contact the undersurface of the support 5, thus providing a hinged relationship between said support and the bracket.
It is obvious that due to the springy nature of the metallic bracket, the said bracket may be readily removedfrom the support for transportation or packing purposes.
It is further obvious that by virtue of the arrangement employed, a plurality of garments can be readily supported between the rods that co'mprise the support.
It is to be understood that the forms of my invention herewith shown and described are to be taken as preferred examples of the same and that various changes relative to the material, size, shape and arrangement of parts maybe resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A garment hanger comprising a fiat supporting member formed with a plurality ofelongated fingers longitudinally extending from the rear portion thereof and positioned in parallelism with space' therebetween for receiving the end portions of a garment, a bracket removably secured to said rear portion of the supporting member, said bracket embodying in its construction spaced arms extending forwardly over said supporting member and fingers, said arms bein formed with hook shaped portions adjacent their upper ends and with a straight transverse cross rod connecting the hook shaped portions, the opposite lower ends of said arm being inwardly bent and receivable in recesses provided in the supporting member.
2 Y openers forwardly and above said supporting member and lo fingers. said arms being iormed with hook shaped portions adjacent their upper ends and with a straight transverse cross rod connecting the hook shaped portions, the opposite lower ends of said arms being inwardly bent ionning projections pivotally receivable in recesses provided in the supporting memberand over-lapped portions extending underneath the bottom of the supportin; member interlocking therewith.
