warren STATES PATENT orrice. j
I CHARLES GEORGE GUY, OF VICTORIA, BRITISH GOLUMBIA, CANADA.
COMBINED HOSE SUPPORTER AND SHIRT ADJUSTER.
Application filed June 5,
This invention relates to a combined garterless hose supporter and shirt-adjuster, my object being to construct a device of this nature which affords ample support for the hose, and provides means for attaching the upper ends of the supporter to the front portion of the shirt or other garment in such a manner as to draw evenly and keep the shirt or garment down. I
A. further object of my invention is to so arrange the hose supporter that it is applied at the rear of the legs to the hose, the upper ends thereof encircling the legs at the rear and passing between and around the legs to the front of the shirt, thereby eliminating any side pull upon the shoulders.
In the drawing: r
Fig. 1 is a rear view of the supporter attached;
Fig. 2 is afront view showing the supporter attached; Y
Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of one of the supporters;
The number 11 indicates the lower elastic extensions of the supporter provided at the extreme end thereof with suitable fastening means 22 for attaching to the hose. The upper ends of the extensions 11 are attached to aring 3, which in turn is secured to a hook l, to which is attached the upper elastic extensions 55 of the supporter. These upper elastic extensions are likewise provided with suitable fastening means 66 and suitable slide buckles77 enabling the user to adjust the supporter tothe proper length.
In applying the supporter, that portion which is attachedto the'hose is placed at theback of the leg, after which the upper end thereof is attached to the hook .4, one
leg of the upper free end of the upper portion is then passed between the legs and attached to the inner corner of the shirt, the other leg of the upper portion passes around the outside of the leg and is likewise attached to the outer front corner of the shirt, the device then being adjusted as to length. In this manner, the movement of the arms or shoulders does not effect any strain upon the supports.
It is obvious that the supporter is adaptable for womens use as well, in keeping the blouse down, and tight across the brea t, or similarly benefiting the brassiere or bust controller, and provides aready means of supporting the hose when corsets are not 1924. Serial No. 718,133.
worn as the upper ends are adaptable to attach to any garment, either blouse, brassiere, chemise or combination.
Furthermore, men playing tennis, cricket or similar games will find it advantageous to attach the outer leg; of the device to the back of the shirt about twelve inches apart.
I claim:
1. In a hose supporter, the combination of a connecting member, upwardly extending divergent arms connectedv with said connecting member, gripping means connected substantially at the free ends of the arms to fasten said arms at separate points to substantially the end of a supporting garment, and to suspend the connecting member adjacentthe bend ofthe knee of the wearer, means for adjusting the length of each of said arms to properly position said connecting member relative to the knee, alower extension suspended from said connecting member, and hose connecting means for said lower extension substantially at the lower end thereof. a
2. In a hose supporter, the combination of aconnecting member, an upper supporting member doubled on itself and extending through said connecting member to provide upwardly extending divergent arms, gripping means connected substantially at the free ends of the arms to fasten said armsat separate-points to substantially the end of a supporting garment, and to suspend the connecting member adjacent the bend of the knee of the wearer, means for adjusting the length of each of said arms to properly position said connecting member relative'to the knee, a lower extension suspended from said connecting member, and hose connecting means for said lower extension substantially at the lower end thereof.
y 3. In a hose supporter, the combination of a. hook member, an upper supporting member doubled on itself and extending through said hook member to provide up-- wardly extending divergent arms, gripping means connected substantially at the free ends of the arms to individually fasten said arms at separate points substantially to the end of a. supporting garment, permitting sidewise movement toward and away from one another, and to suspend the hook member adjacent the bend of the knee of the wearer, means for adjusting the length of each of the arms toproperly position said connecting member relative to the knee, a
lower extension suspended from said hook member for swinging movement thereon, hose supporting means for said lower e2; tension substantially at the lower end thereof, and means for adjusting the length of the lower extension" to properly positien said hose supporting means relative to the tops of the hose.
4. In mens hose supporters, the combination with an articulating member, oi" an upper supporting member doubled on itself and extending through said articulating member to provide upwardly extending diver ent arms 1l.)1n means connected with the free ends of the arms to individual ly-fasten said arms at separate points to the toward and away from one another, and at. the same time so suspend the supporting member as to dispose said articulating me1nher adjacent.thebendiof the knee of the wearer, means for adjusting the length of each 01"- the arms-to-properly position the articulating memliier relative to the knee a lower extension detach-ably suspended from the underside of said articulating member for swinging movement thereon means connected with the lower end oi? said lower extension to engage and hold a seek and said lower extension having meansfor adjusting its length to properly position said seek holding means relative to the sock top of the wearer. V
In testimony whereof I aitiix my signature.
CHARLES GEORGE GUY.
