To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES R. MCBRIDE, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, city and State of New York, have in vented an Improvement in TensiomAnchors for Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a body appliance to which the hose supporters of a corset are to be connected for an application of the holding-down tension to the corset instead ofbeing connected to the stockings, with the object of preserving the integrity of the stockings, preventing the unsightly distortion of the same by the tensipn of the hosesupporters and prolonging the useful life of the stockings.

In carrying out my invention, the device of my improvement comprises a circular strap member to surround the leg above the knee, two parallel straps oppositely connected thereto and adapted to extend down the opposite side surfaces of the leg to the foot and around beneath the foot below the instep, and a strap thereto connected which passes around the foot at about the ankle and the free ends of which may be connected together by a pin, or by any other suitable fastening device. To the upper circular strap member aforesaid the fastening devices of the hose supporters of the corset are directly connected and the stocking surrounds the device of my improvement and it may be held in position by any usual form of garter which is free from producing injury to the stockings.

IVhen the device of my improvement is in use, the entire tension of the hose supporters from the corset is transferred to the body appliance and communicated directly to the foot, so that the limbs of the wearer take up the entire tension instead of the tension being taken by the stockings, and the tension required is so slight in proportion to the power of the limbs that the tension is hardly noticeable by the person.

a represents the circular strap to surround the leg above the knee, and I prefer to form this with two angular members a coming at opposite sides. In these angular members I prefer to form the button-holes 2 3 and to the lower ends of these angular members the vertical side members of the body appliance are connected. The vertical side members comprise the straps Z) c and the elastic straps b 0 The elastic straps by preference are at their upper ends secured to the lower ends of the angular members a and to their lower ends theupper ends of the side members 5 c are secured; in fact, by preference the side members I) c are one strap passing down the sides of the leg and underneath the foot below the instep; and in addition to these parts I provide the ankle member d which is a horizontally disposed strap passing around the back of the foot at about the ankle and loosely secured together at its free end by a pin or any other suitable fastening device. The oflice of this strap d is made for the purpose of keeping the lower ends of the vertical side members Z) 0 from shifting their position to any appreciable extent and also to prevent the loop at the lower end from slipping back and over the heel. This body appliance of my invention is placed next to the flesh underneath the stocking and when the stocking is on is of course invisible, or substantially invisible.

The circular strap a with its angularanembers a in proportion to the length of the side members I) b and 0 is to occupy a position which will agree with the length of the hose supporters 4 under tension, and the device of my invention is to be made in difierent sizes to suit the length of limbs and height of the wearer.

I do not limit myself to the employment of the elastic parts 5 0 although I prefer to use the same to provide additional elasticity under tension for the accommodation of the parts.

1 I have shown in the angular members a four buttonholes,three in one member in line with the strap a and one near the point of the angular members a in line with the center button-hole and also in line with the side straps but I do not limit myself in this particular. This provides adjustability and location in connection with the circular strap and the position of the hose supporter. The button-holes are particularly useful because the head member of the ordinary hose supporter fastener can be passed through the button-hole and the loop member thereafter connected with the head member in securing the hose supporter fastener to the straps at its angular parts, and it will be noticed that these angular members are in the direct line of draft with the'side straps for tension.

I claim as my invention:

1. A body appliance for connection thereto of the hose supporters of a corset, comprising a strap of circular form to surround the leg above the knee and including oppositely disposed angular members to which the hose supporters are to be connected, parallel straps connected to the lower ends of the angular members and adapted to come at opposite sides of the leg and at the lower end pass around beneath the hollow of the foot, and a strap secured near the lower ends of said parallel straps and adapted to surround the anklevof the wearer.

2. A body appliance for connection thereto of the hose supporters of a corset, com prising a strap of circular form to surround the leg above the knee and including oppositely disposed angular members and provided with button-holes to receive the head of the hose supporter fastening devices, parallel straps connected to the lower ends of the angular members and adapted to come at opposite sides of the leg and at the lower end pass around beneath the hollow of the foot, and a strap secured near the lower ends of said parallel straps and adapted to surround the ankle of the wearer.

3. A body appliance for connection thereto of the hose supporters of a corset, comprising a strap of circular form to surround the leg above the knee and including oppositely disposed angular members, parallel straps each composed of elastic webbing parts and ordinary Webbing parts connected to the lower ends of the angular members and adapted to come at opposite sides of the leg and at the lower end pass around beneath the hollow of the foot, and a strap secured near the lower ends of said parallel straps and adapted to surround the ankle of the wearer.
