UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRITZ MLLER, OF DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO SCI-ILOEMANN AKTIEN- GESELLSCHAFT, OF DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, A CORPORATION OF GERMANY.
ROLLING MILL.
Application filed March 11, 1926, Serial No. 93,832, and in Germany March 13, 1925.
My invention relates to rolling mills and more particularly to double two high mills provided with an exchangeable roll-supporting frame. The object of my invention is 5 to avoid the increase of the distance between the two housings and to enable all the rolls of a double two high mill and all the housing accessories to be simultaneously inserted and ren'loved. To this end, I arrange the central partition, instead of on the housing, on the exchangeable frame itself, whereby the advantages of the latter are considerably increased.
In the appended drawing in which I have illustrated my invention by way of example, Fig. 1 is an elevation of a double two high mil] showing the inserted frame and the housing accessories, Fig. 2 an elevation of a double two high mill with the frame and housing accessories therefrom withdrawn and Fig. 3 a top plan view of a double two high mill.
1 designates the housing of a double two high mill and 2 the exchangeable frame carrying the two sets of rolls 3 and the housing accessories 4. 5 is the partition wall, which heretofore formed a part of the housing 1 but in my new construction as shown constitutes a portion of the frame 2. The great advantage of this new construction is that a common exchangeable frame for both sets of I rolls may be used, while the horizontal distance between the two sets of rolls is no greater than in an ordinary double two high mill. 6 designatesthe top of the housing and 7 the plates or wedges for securing the frame in position in the housing.
As shown in Fig. 2, the frame 2 can be vertically withdrawn from the housing after the top (3 of the same has been first removed.
I claim as my invention:
1. 111 a double two high mill, the combination with the housing, of a single exchangeable frame, a plurality of sets of rolls rotatably jouinalled in said frame, and a central partition provided between said sets of rolls and forming a portion of said frame.
In a double two high mill, the combi nation with the housing, of a' single exchangeable frame, a plurality of sets of rolls journalled in said frame, a central partition provided between said sets of rolls forming portion of said frame,'and means for securing said frame in position in said housing.
in testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
FRITZ MoLLER.
