Description

v F. R. ANGELL. Combined Blotter, Paper-Cutter andA Ruler.
NQ.\62,516. PafentdApri|27,1a75.
Illllllllllll l UHU `{HHHHHHH HHH WITNESSES UNITED STATES PATENT oOEEIGE.
FRANK ANGELL, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
IMPRGVEMENT IN COMBINED BLOTTERS, PAPER-CUTTERS, AND RULERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 162,516, dated April 27, 1875; application filed November 14, 1874.
To all. whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK R. ANGELI., of Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Combined Blotter, Papel-Gutter, and Ruler, of which the following is a specification The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents the back of the blotting-pad, showing the upper side of the paper-cutter or ruler, with the ends of the blotter contined thereto. Fig. 2 is alongitudinal section of Fig. l, taken on the line x x. Fig. 3 shows the blotter on the side of the papercutter or ruler.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the paper-cutter or ruler, which may be made of metal, wood, or hard rubber, 0r of any suitable material, and of any size convenient for the purpose.
In this example of my invention the papercutter or ruler is made ot' sheet-tin, having orifices D to allow the ends ot' the blottingpaper B to be drawn through and folded over on the upper side of the paper-cutter A, substantially as seen in the drawing. This plan for fastening the blotting-paper to the paper-cutter is adopted as being easy and simple, and perfectly eective for holding it. The paper is readily removed, and may be renewed as often as may be necessary. The edges ofthe paper-cutter, one or both, are turned under or bent the thickness of the paper, to allow of their resting ou the paper or book, and serving as paper-cutters when required for that purpose. When the papercutter is made of wood or rubber, one or both of the edges may be bent down in the same manner. This bending of the edge is indicated by the longitudinal lines C.
This article may be used as a rest for the hand in Writing or book-keeping and will be found extremely convenient, and a great saving ot' time is effected, as the blotter, the paper-cutter, and the ruler are rarely to be foundin close proximity when they are wanted.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Let-ters Patent- The paper-cutter rule A1 having two cross- -sl0ts, D D, at one end, and a single cross-slot at the other, to admit of receiving the blotting-paper, in the manner described.
