IMPROVEMENT IN PAPER BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 162,509, dated April 27, 1875; application filed March 24, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WiLLY WALLACE, of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Paper Box, of which the following is a specification The nature of my invention relates to the arrangement and construction of a box for the keeping and displayin got'papcr, envelopes, and other goods, and consists of three divisions, one of which said divisions is firmly attached to the back piece, and forms, when the box is opened, an upright stand, and the other two divisions form the sides.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I represents a top view of a box, when open, embodying my invention. Fig. II is a crosssection of the same, and Fig. III is a crosssection of the box when closed.
A A are the two side boxes or side divisions, connected to a back piece, B, by means of suitable hinges n n, made of cloth, parchment, or other pliable material or, if the box is made of wood or other heavy material, metal hinges may be used, and so arranged that the two side boxes A'A can be laid flat, so that the central division, attached to the back piece B, will stand upright and at right angle with the side divisions or boxes. To the back piece B a central board, 0, is firmly attached, provided, on both sides, with pockets D D, or with a number of smaller pockets or divisions, to correspond with the size and nature of the goods to be kept and displayed. In the same manner the side boxes A A may be divided into any desired number of smaller divisions.
By this arrangement all the goods or articles placed in the box can be seen at a glance as soon as the box is opened.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a box consisting of two divisions or boxes, A A, connected to a back piece, B, by means of suitable hinges n n, having a central board, 0, firmly attached to the back B, provided, on both sides, with partitions or pockets D D, in the manner and for the purpose substantially as herein specified.
