LIP-STICK HOLDER.

rlhis invention has `fory its object the provisionA of a simple and inexpensive holder for a rouge lipstick or similar cosmetic bythe use of which the rouge or other cosmetic may be kept in a sanitary condition, waste in its use will be avoided, and itimay be applied to the lips of the user without the aid of a mirror.

The main object of the invention is `the provision of a `guard or guide to insure the depositing of an even and straight line of rouge to the lip. n

Several forms of the device are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and it obvious that this improvement may 'be utilized in any former receptacle carrying the lipstick, said improvement residing primarily in the provision of the guide or guard.

Referring to the drawings, wherein simi lar numerals are utilized to indicate corresponding parts in each of the several views:

Referring more particularly to Figs. l, 2 and 3, the numeral l designates a casing or cover member havin fiat sides and having an open end whereby 1t is ada ted to it over the tubular holder 2, the older and the cover having the saine cross-sectional outline so that rotation of the cover on the holder cannot occur. 'The holder is formed with a longitudinal slot 3 on one side and the cover is formed with a notch t in one wall at its open end to ralign with the slot and accommodate the stem 5 et a knob 6 projecting from a usher t', which is secured firmly around t sinner end of the rouge stick 8. As shown the stick 8 is of proper contour to ht closely within the holder and may be moved longitudinally therein under pressure exerted through the knob 6, so that its end will project beyond the end of the holder. Then the device is positioned with the end of the rouge stick bearing against the edge of the users lip and the inner face of the guide or guard bearing upon the outer flesh of the lip, whereupon by rubbing the vstick of ,rouge longitudinally across the lip, while maintaining the d escribed position, the desired application will be easily and quickly effected. The cosmetic will be distributed evenly and without waste and the customary making of'spaced intersecting marks andsubsequent rubbing is unnecessary. When the device is not 1n use, the cover is slipped over the open end lof the holder and thereby prevents dust and dirt from collecting on the rouge stick and also prevents `the stick from rubbing upon the clothes of the user or upon other objects.

In Figs.. a and 5, the removable cover is replaced by a lid 10 hinged to one side of a conta-incr lland having an open lside to ac-V commodate the extension or guard l2. in

this form the stick may be adjusted by means of a collapsible or follower bottom for the container. The use of the device in applying the rouge, however, is the same as the first described form, as is the guide or guard for the' lip.

In Fig. 6, .the invention isshown as applied to still another form of carrier or container. ln this form a removable cap M is applied to the open end ot the carrier and the guide or guard 9 is simply projected or forms an extension oit one side of the carrier as in the other Aforms shown. In this form a collapsible or follower bottom l5 may be used tor forcing the stick out in position for use.

Having thus described my invention, what lclaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of theUnited States is lows: l

1. A holder for a rouge stick or the like, consistin of a body or carrier having an open enc? and a guide or guard projecting longitudinally from the open end.
