UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SID LINDENBERG (NOW BY MARRIAGE SID MOUTRAM), OF NEW YORK, N. Y., AS-
SIGNOR, BY MESNE ASSIGNMENTS, TO THE COMFI-NICK CORPORATION, A. GORIORA- TION OF NEW YORK.
UNDERGARMENT.
Application filed Jfune 16 1922. Serial No. 568,769.
This invention relates to improvements in ladies undergarments. The object' of the invention is the production of such a garment designated generally as bloomers or drawers,
' which are shaped to the form of the user, so as to avoid chafing and prevent the formation of ruflles.
tion is the production of bloomers with requisite fullness through the seat.
In the accompanying drawings Fig. 1
represents a front elevation of an exemplification of the garment; Fig. 2 shows a side view of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 shows developments or patterns of the front member of the garment; Fig. 4 represents a development or pattern of the rear member of the garment. The front memberof the garment is composed of two similar portions designated in their entireties by the letters A and B. Each of said portions consists of the center front edge 10 which runs straight for about one-- half the length of the garment andtermimates in the outward curved portion 11. The center front edge then runs straight downwardly, as indicated at 12, thereby enabling the portions of the front member to be made of greater width at their lower portions than at their top portions. The outer side edges 14 of the portions A and B are curved or bulged out at their central portions. The
lower ends of the edges 12 and 14 are connected by the horizontal lower edge 15. The upper ends of the edges 10 and 14 are connected by the inclined straight edges 16, which incline toward the center front edges 10. The edges 10 of the members A and B are connected by a seam 18.
The rear member of the garment is designated in its entirety by the letter D, and comprises the similar tapering straight side edges 20, that diverge from their top to their lower ends.
A top edge 21 extends from the top ends of the edges 20, and inclines toward its cen ter 22. The central portion of the bottom edge 25 of the member D is formed with a large radius. Bottom side edges 26 connect the ends of the edge 25 and bottom ends of the side edges 20. The edges 26 incline upwardly from the inner to their outer ends.
A second object of the inven- The members A and B' are connected to each other by the seam 18 as already described and the straight edges 12 of the front portions A and B are connected to the curved edges 25 of the rear member D and form the seam 19'. The edges 14 of the front members A and B are connected to the straight edges 20 of the rear member D and form the seam 28. A hem 30 is formed at the top edge of the garment for an elastic waist band 31. The lower portions of the members A, B and D form the legs of the garment. A hem 33 is formed adjacent to the lower edges 15 agd 26 of-the' garment for the elastic bands 3 Various modifications may be made in the construction and form of the members of the garment and the present exemplification is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof. I
Having described my .invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim is:
1. In a garment of the character described the combination of a front member comprising two portions having curved outer side edges, each of said portions also having a center front edge running straight for about one-half of the length of the garment then curved outwardly and next running straight downwardly, thereby providing the, lower half of said front member of" greater width than the upper half thereof, a seam connecting the upper center front edges and the outwardly curved portions of the edges of the 85 front member, and a one piece rear member her at its lower portion, substantially as described. a
2. In a garment of the character described the-combination of a front member compris ing two portions, said portions having a relatively wide lower portion, a curved intermediate portion and a relatively narrow upper portion, a seam connecting said portions-for connected to the lower straight edges of the about one-half their lengths at their center center front edges of the front members. 1 front edges said portions of the front m'em- Signed at the borough of Manhattan, city her having hulged out curved side edges, and of New York, in the county of New York I a one piece rear member having divergin and State of New York, this 13th day of straight side edges connected to the curved June, A.
