llhis invention relates to the construction of pajama pants and the like, to providethe same with ample fullness at the 'closed back and crotch; and the objects and nature of the invention will be readily understood by those skilled in the art in the light of the following explanation of the accompanying drawings'that show what I now believe to be the preferred mechanical expression or embodiment of my invention from among other forms and arrangements within the spirit and sco e of my invention.

n object of the vinvention is to provide pants of the pajama type that are closed at the back from the waistline downwardly and upwardly to the fly opening at the front, thus having a closed seat and crotch, with an expansible or hanging somewhat bag-like seat portion of extreme fullness and capacity with the ends in view of producingl pants of substantially non-elastic textile fabric that will be exceedingly durable, capable of being ecol nomically manufactured, and loose and comfortable particularly as a sleeping garment.

With this and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of structure and arrangement as more fully described and specified hereinafter.

The garment shown, is, in major part,

,l composed of the three blanks or patterns illustrated by Fig. 4, although each blank is not necessarily composed of a single uncut piece of textile fabric, but can be made up of several pieces united by seams or stitching to form the blank desired to produce the completed4 article of my invention.

In the particular example illustrated, each leg l, of the garment, has innerlongitudinal leg seam 2, 2, but'no outside leg seam, and the body portion 3, of the garment is continubined back and seat blank is secured intofthe garment, but l do not wish toso limit rall features of my invention, as will hereinafter appear.

ln the example shown, the Waist band of the garment is formed by turning the top edge portion of the body part of the garment downwardly and stitching the same to form tube 6, for the draw string or belt 7, asis usual in pajama pants, although I do not wish to so limit all feajtures of my invention.

.The two similar longitudinal blanks w are folded and stitched to form the legs and body portion of the garment, with the addition of the seat and back blank b.

, The blanks a, form the front of the body portion and with blank b, the back of the body portion, and ,the legs of the garment.

-One blank a, forms the left leg and major part of the left body portion of the garment,

yand the other blank a, the rightleg and corresponding right major part of the body portion.

In forming the legs l, each blank a, is transversely folded on itself on an approximately central longitudinal fold line, and the meeting longitudinal edges from a', toa, are

stitched together to form the portion 2, of theV inner leg seam.

The back longitudinal edge portion a3 of each blank @,aboveppoint a, curves inwardly and upwardly from the point a, and c'ontinues upwardly` approximately at an inclination to the top edge of the blank.

Thus when the two blanks a, are brought together, their rear edge portions a3, will d1- verge upwardly from. the meeting points a,

forming or leaving a space to be closed by e blank b, which blank Z), in the completed gar-I ment, constitutes the connecting web at the back and seat of the garment, between the edge portions a3, of blanks a. The blank b, is of peculiar formation to attain the desired bag or loose expansible seat formation and the more or less extreme fullness hanging of the garment at theseat and crotch to render the garment exceedingly loose and comfortable, avoiding binding and pulling on the body of the wearer and tearing and undue stretching and wear on the garment, as the wearer rolls and turns and assumes various postures when sleeping.

In the example shown, the blank b, when flattened out, is extremely wide at its lower end and gradually decreases in width toward its upper end, while the recess formed by the upwardly diverging edge portions a3, of blanks a, when said blanks are flattened out, reduces in width downwardly.

The downwardly enlarging blank b, is preferably approximately bell shape at its lower portion with outwardly curving bulging longitudinal edges while the lower transverse end edge b', of said blank is preferably continuous and curved or concaved upwardly from one lower point or ,corner b2, to the other. f

The similar opposite side edges b3, of the blank b, extend from the upper end of the blank downwardly to the points or corners b2, and these edges b3, are stitched to the edge portions a3, of the blanks d, respectively, to form the two seams 8, that meet the seams2, of the two legs l, at points a and extend upwardly therefrom to the back top edge of the garment. Y

The concave transverse edgeb, of seat and back'blank b, is stitched to front edge portions a, of both blanks a, to form the portions 2', of the inner seams'of the two legs in continuation of the portions 2 of said leg seams and in fact connecting saiilf` inner leg seams and rendering them continuous across the closed crotch of the garment.

The front longitudinal edges a5, of the front sides of the two blanks a, are both stitched to the transverse end edge b", of blank b, by

tend upwardly from points a, 'to points a,

which points a, meet and are secured together at the center of edge b', of blank b, by the seam 2', and at the center of the crotch of the garment.

From this center where points a, meet,-tlieji front vertical seam 9, extends upwardly to the front or fly opening, and said seam 9, secures together the front meeting longitudinal edge portions a7, of'the two blanks a.

- From Figs. 1, 2 and 3, of the drawings, it will be noted that the seat blank b, is of such formation with respect to-theleg and body blanks a, and is so assembled therewith as to -be continuousacross the crotch of the garmentfwith opposite tapered extensions extending downwardly at the inner sides of the legs along the-inner leg-seams, and that said blank b, forms a loosely hanging bag or seat and crotch portion that extends forwardly eral sections stitched together, for instance,

each can be composed'of a front section and a back sectionstitche'd together at their outer meeting edges to form an outer leg seam.

As various modifications might be resorted to in matters of shape and form, I 'do not wish to limit my invention as defined by the following claims, to the approximately exact disclosure hereof.

What I claim is:

1. VPajama pants and the like, of substantially non-elastic fabric includlng a substantially non-elastic fabric combined back and seat blank extending downwardly centrally ofthe back and seat and forwardly and upwardly at the crotch, said blank having a concaved transverse end united to thev front edge portions ofthe garment body by a seam extending acrossv the crotch in continuation of the inner leg, seams and downwardly di'- verging approximately convexed opposite longitudinaledres united to the longitudinal edges of the bac of the garment body by permanent" Aseams extending to said inner leg seams to form the garment with a closed back and seat and the lower portion of its body a'nd seatof extreme fullness by reason of the excessive width of thegportionf of said blank in' thelower part ofthe body.
