Description

Sept. 28 1926.
M. s. WILSON H'AT HOLDER Filed Nov. 6, 1925 gmmmo@ jj@ 5%@ Stro-mw Patented Sept. 28, 1925.
INI' OFFICE.
MARY S. WILSON, 0F DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
HAT HOLDER.
Application led November It is the primary object of my invention to provide a hat holder, shaped and adapted for use in closets and other places wherein space which is normally unused may be taken advantage or for hat storage.
It is a further object of my invention to s provide such a device of cheap and economical construction as well as of such a form that it may be easily mailed in an envelope or other similar device.
I am aware that hat holders of various forms have been heretofore devised and I have tiled a patent application in the United States covering a certain type of hat holder as shown in my patent application, Serial Number 751,088, led November 20th, 1924. rIhe various hat holders of prior' art, however, are all formed of one piece construction so as to constitute bulky and odd shaped packages, ill adapted for shipment either in quantity or singly and particularly -ill adapted for shipment singly in the mails. My improved hat holder has all of the advantages of strength and neatness of appearance as that shown in my said previous application but couples with it a construction which lends itself readily to shipment either in quantity or singly.
With. the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the arrangement, combination and construction of the various parts of my improved device as described in the specification, claimed in my claim and shown in the accompanying drawings in which- Fig. l is a perspective view showing my improved device. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing Ithe two sections ot my improved device disconnected and the lower portion of the standard cut away. v
I have shown a standard consisting of a e, i925. seria-i No. 67,233.
portion 5 adapted to be screwed, nailed or otherwise secured to a wall or other suitable object as at 6 and a horizontal portion 7 45 extending outwardly from the wall to which the hanger is to be attached and a vertical portion 8. The vertical portion 8 is provided with a slot 9 on its upper end and a hat holding ring l0 is secured to the stand- 50 ard by inserting the portions ll of the ends of the ring l0 within the slot 9 so as to engage the prongs l2 of the end 8, formed by the insertion of the slot 9, within the spaces formed by the bending of the ends of the ring 10 as more particularly shown in Fig. 2.
It will be apparent that the two pieces of the holder-the standard and the ring`may be quickly assembled or disassembled and that when disassembled, the pieces may be laid together for shipment in single' packages asin an envelope or may be packed in nested relation in bulk for large shipments. Further, it becomes possible for the person using the holder to carry it about from place to place to be used as occasion requires.
It will be obvious that various changes may be made in the arrangement, combination and construction of the various parts of my improved device without departing from the spirit of my invention and it is my intention to cover by my cla-im such changes as may be reasonably included within the scope thereof.
TWhat I claim is:
A hat holder comprising a standard having a. U shaped groove on one end thereof, and a split ring having' its ends return bent and engaged in said groove, whereby the saiid ring is removably secured to the standar MARY S. WILSON.
