Description

Feb. 18, 1930, J. F. Ros 1,747,390
PARTITION MAKER Filed March 3, 1927 Patented Feb. 1 8, 193e JOHN. H3033, or CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, oHro PARTITION MAKER application med Haren s,
- My invention consists of a novel formof' article of manufacture designed to provide a partition strip construction for drawers of desks, ftables, buifets and such furniture, 5 whether'used in offices or the home. The partition strip of my invention lconsists of a flexible metal tape of sufficient width to provide the desired height for the partition when in place and the flexibility of thev tape permits it to be bent in different directions to enable the various spaces or pockets to be formed by a single length of material or by several cut off strips of the tape bent in the proper directions.
My partition tape is provided at intervals with nail loops or sockets so that little nails may be driven into placein the bottom of the drawer and engage with such sockets to hold the artition tape in proper position'.
My invention is well illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspectiveview of the flexible metal tape in the condition in which it may be rolled for vendition. A
Figure 2 is a plan view of a piece of the tape outstretched.
Figure 3 illustrates the manner'in which the tape may be bent or arranged in a drawer for use as partition means therefor. 80 Figure 4 illustrates the tape with an angular bend. Figures 5 and 6 are edge and side Views of a modified form of the tape using short pressed out loops fornail socket means instead of long loops or sockets the length of which coincides with the width of the tape.
My partition tape or material is preferably sheet metal of light standard gage so that it may be rolled to economize space in selling 40 the same in a box. The body of the tape is designated 1 land said body is pressed out to form the nail sockets 2, the manner of rolling the tape being illustrated in Figure 1.
Since the tape l is flexible, it may be bent 'at I diferent angles and thus one piece may form several sides of a pocket or compartment formed ina drawer or the like. Of course, the tape does not have to be placed in a drawer and could be used on top of a table or other '50 similar place or piece of furniture. Nails 3 isa?. serial n0.' 17a,4e7.
are driven into the supporting base on which the partition tape is mounted. Whereas in Figures 1 to 4,1 illustrate nail sockets the lentire width of the tape, in Figures 5 and 6, l provide such sockets by narrow pressed out loops 4, either one or both of which may be used in applying the nail securing means to is mounted.
Having thus'described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by-Letters the tape for driving into the baseon which it Patent .of the Unitedl States, is
1. As a new article of manufacture, a partition tape for making partitions and compartments in drawers or like bases, consisting lof a' body equipped with nail sockets extending across the width of the body, said body being of a flexible nature permitting the same to be rolled into a composite form.
2. As a new article of manufacture,y a partition tape of the class described, made from a lexible metal strip adapted to be wound or formed in a roll provided with attachment means for penetrating devices by which the tape may be held in an upright position on a base.
3. As a new article of manufacture, a ilexible metal partition tape having integral pressed out socket members projected from the body' thereof to receive attachment means for securing the tape in a position perpendicular to the member, to which it is attached.
l1.'A drawer partition tape of the class described, consisting of a flexible metal body adapted to be rolled'up to economize space, and having nail engaging means consisting of pressed out loops integral with the body of thel tape, said loops being disposed so as to hold nails parallel to the plane of said tape.
5. An article of the class described consisting of a rollof material adapted to be availed of'as a partition construction and including additional means for securing the same to any suitable base member and holding the former in an upright position on said base member so that it constitutes va partition.
In testimony whereo f I affix my slgnature.
JOHN F. ROBE.
