The device of the present invention while adapted for a wide range of utility as a d1splay fixture, is primarily intended for ds-.
playing candy or the like# An object of the inven ion is to provide a displa stand including a tray and a transparent ome covering the tray, so mounted that the tray and its cover may be tilted or inclined in any direction, and may be firmly locked in adjusted plosition.
Other ob'ects of t e invention are provide a disp ay stand which will be of simple, practical construction, which will be rugged and durable .in use, which will lend itself to economical manufacture, and which will be of attractive appearance and well suited to meet the requirements of every da use.
With the above noted and other o jects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of arts, as will be more fully hereinafter set orth and pointed out in the claims. The invention may be more fully understood from the following description in connection. with the accompanying drawings, wherem- F1g. 1 is a view in vertical section on the line- 1-1 of Fig. 2 through a display stand embodying the invention, the dotted lines indicating an adjusted or tilted position of Fig. 2 is a top plan view of Fig. 1 with a portion of the glass dome broken away.
Fig. 3 is-an enlarged sectional detail showing 'the adjustable connection between the standard and the tray.
Fig. 4 is a sectional detail showing the manner kof securing the dome to the tray.
The stand includes a tray portion preferably of circular shape, and formed with la central upwardly presented circular projection 10. Radially outwardly of this projecton there is formed a groove 11, and-bef yond the groove there is a second slightly raised annular portion 12 terminating in a depending marginal flange 13,.
4'The central portion 10 of the tray carries a depending socket member 14 adapted for connection with a supporting, standard. The standard is preferably made in two sections 15, 15", the upper section 15 including a threaded extremity 16 screwing into the socket 14. The lower standard section 15 includes a lower threaded end 17 screwing The two sections of the standard are hingedly connected and adapted to be locked in various positions of adjustment so that the tray may be supported at any angle relative to the surface on which the base rests. Preferably one standard section is bifurcated as,
at 20 providing a pair of ears 21 which straddle 'an extension 22 on the end of the other section. Ears 21 and extension 22 are provided withregistering openings 23 for the reception of a hinge member 24. The hlnge member 24-is preferably in the nature of a screw, the ends of which receive wing nuts 25 for clamping the two standard sections in an desired or r1pivoted ad ustment.
he lass ome or cover 26 for the tray has lts ower edges received in an annular groove 27, in an annular ring member 28 adapted to snugly fit the upraised central portlon 10 of the tray. Preferably the edges of the glass dome are cemented or otherwise permanently secured to the ring 28, and the rlng rests upon a resilient annular sealing element 29 disposed in the bottom of the groove 11. y
To lock the dome in lace, I utilize a plurality of pivoted lin s 30, preferably pivotally connected to brackets 30 disposed at spaced intervals along the inner edge of the shelf portion 12 of the tray. These lmks may carry at their free ends ball heads 31 adapted to have a camming action on position of hinged the upper surface of bifurcated arms 32.
the rinflr member 28. As the links are swung from tl1e.dotted line position of Fig. 4 to the full line position of this figure, the
` From the foregoing description it will be apparent that I have provided a display stand peculiarly suited for the display of candy and ot various other types of edible merchandise 'When the stand is mounted upon a high counter, it may be tilted forwardly so that a customer may more read ily observe the merchandise under the dome. By loosening and tightening the wing nuts 25, the standard sections may -be readily adjusted and quickly locked in adjusted position. The operation of securing the dome and its carrying ring in place is a very simple one and consists merely of swin ing the links 30 to vertical osition.
Wlgiile I have illustrated a pre erred embodiment of the invention, various changes and alterations might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described Without departing from the invention. Hence I do not Wish to limit myself to the details set forth, but shall consider myself at libert to make such changes and alterations as airly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
1. A display stand including a supportin standard and a tray mounted thereon, sald tray having an annular groove therein, a transparent dome member having its edges mounted .in .a ring, a compressible packing gasket in the groove u on which the ring packinggasket and retain the dome in place.i
isplay stand including a supportmg standard and a tray mounted thereon, said tray having an annular groove therein, a transparent dome member having its edges mounted in a ring, a compressible acking gasket in the groove u on which. t e ring seats,\ and means for etachably engaging the ring to retain the dome in place, said last mentioned means includingpivoted links with ball heads engaging pairs of radially disposed arms extending laterally from the ring, whereby the ring is firmly seated on the gasket.
