LOUIS BRENNER, OF COLUMBUS, OHIO.
TROUSER SUPPORTER.
Application filed January 1G, 1926. Serial No. 81,680.
The present invention is directed toV improvements in trouser supporters.
The primary object of the invention is to provide an article of this character so constructed that it can be conveniently secured to the waist of the trousers to form a. permanent part thereof.
A further object of the invention is to provide an article of this nature including a belt for engaging the body of the wearer, the belt having combined therewith elements so arranged as to effectively support the trousers without discomfort to the wearer.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an article 0f this character so constructed that the use of Suspenders and exterior belts is eliminated.
TWith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the lnovel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which z Figure l is a perspective view of the device.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view.
Figure ,3 is a partial longitudinal sectional view.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view through one of the flaps.
The device comprises a belt l, preferably of stout fabric, the ends of which are provided with adjustably connected buckle elements 2 and 3, respectively, whereby the belt can be conveniently adjusted upon the waist of the user.
Secured to the outer surface of the belt 1 by stitches t is a'l fabric strip 5 of greater width than said belt, there being a canvas stiifening strip 6 of the same width as the strip 5 placed face to face with the strip 5. A plurality of pairs of spaced vertical stitches 7 are applied to the strips 5 and 6, six in number, so as to be equally around the waist of the wearer in which are placed distributed to provide pockets 8 metal plates 9.
Placed in intimate contact with the strip 6 is a strip 10, -which is of the same width as the strips 5 and 6. The lower edges of the strips 5, 6 and l0 are secured together by the stitches d, while the upper edges thereof are secured by stitches 11, which close the upper ends of the pockets 8, the lower ends thereof` being closed by the stitches ll. rllhe stitches ll are also employed to secure the respective strips to the upper edges of the waist to the trousers 12, as clearly shown in Figure 2 of the drawing.
The ends of the strips 5 and 6 terminate in flaps 13, which are reduced and consequently strips. rlhe upper edges of these flaps are secured to the trousers by the stitches l1.
It will be observed that the belt l is of greater' length than the strips 5, 6 and l() so that access can be conveniently had to the buckle elements f2 and 3. It will be 0f course understood that the device is fully completed before it is stitched to the waist of the trousers and are made to fit standard size waist lines. However, slight adjustments can be made upon manipulating` the buckle elements 2 and 3 should it be desired. Y
In use the belt l will snugly engage the waist of the wearer and owing to the fact that the plates 8 are vertically Vdisposed and that the respective strips are secured to the upper edge of the trousers the trousers will be effectively supported from a point above the belt.
Owing to the inherent resiliency of the plates 8 the wearer can bend over and turn or twist without discomfort.
What is claimed is A trouser supporter consisting of a belt, a pair of strips havingfree end portions with their lower edges stitched to the lower edge of the belt, said strips being disposed longitudinally with respect to the belt and being of less length than the belt, the upper edges of the strips being disposed above the plane of the upper edge of said belt and capable of being secured to the waistband of the trousers, a plurality of pairs of trans verse stitches uniting the strips at intervals and providing pockets, and plates arranged ifn tpe pockets, as and for the purpose set ort i.
In testimony whereof I aiiiX my signature.
