Be it known that I, Aiirnnn R. Brion, a citizen of the United States, residing at Holcomb, in the county of Grenada and State of lVlississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dancing Dolls, of which the following is a specification. p

This invention appertains to dolls of the loose jointed type and the primary object of the invention is to provide a toy dancing doll of the type adapted to be set in motion by vibration embodying a novel frame work and novel means for supporting the doll adjacent to the upper portion of the framework, whereby upon the tapping of the doll by a suitableinstrument, the same will be set in motion.

A further objecty of the invention is the provision of a novel sounding platform or board supported by the frame work below the jointed figure or doll adapted to be hit by the feet of the figure or doll, when the same is set in motion, so that a noise will he made similar-to the noise made by clog dances.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a dancing doll of the above character, which will be durable, one that will be simple and easy to manufacture and one which can be placed upon the market at a small cost.

With these and other objects in view, thev invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which drawings:

Figure 8 is a top plan view of the toy.

Referring to the drawings in detail,

wherein similar reference characters designate corresponding` parts throughout the several views, the letter A generally indirates the improved toy, which comprises a frame E, and the dancing doll proper C.

'The doll proper C comprises a body portio-n 16 preferably formed of a single piece of wood and-the body is :preferably shaped to simulate somewhatl the appearance of the human `body and has formed on or secured to the upper end thereof a head 16 shaped and painted to give the appearance of the human head. y,The lower end of the body 15 has pivotally connectedthereto as at 17 depending legs 18 which areprovided with v pivoted linee joints 19. rllhe lower terminals of the legs carry suitable feet 20. The body 15 at the shoulder portions thereof have pivotally secured thereto` as at 21 arms 22 which are providedwith elbow joints 23. It is to be noted that the elbow joints 23 are arranged at right angles to the shoulder joints 25. Suitable hands 24 are pivoted as at 25 to the arms 22 and it is to he noted that the pivot points 25 are arranged at right angles to the elbow joints 23.

In accordance with this invention, the doll, at the neck portion, is provided with eyes 25 which are arranged at quarters, and at right angles to one another. These eyes 26 have secured thereto cords 27 which eX- tend to the longitudinal and transverse top frame. bars 10 and l1. These barsV 10 and 11 at the central portion thereof are notched as at 28 and the outer ends of the cords 27 are wrapped about the notched portion and tied. These cords are `drawn taut and hold the feet of the doll slightly above the sound board or platform 12, as clearly shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings.

In operation of the toy a suitable instru-- ment,isuch as a light hammer, is used and the doll proper C is tapped with thc instrument at the top of the head, which will set the doll proper in motion and cause the vibration of the cords 27. The vibration of the doll proper C will cause the swinging of the arms 22 and the legs 18 and the feet 2O will be brought into contact with the. sounding board with a tapping motion causing the making of a sound similar to the noise `made by clog dances.

From the foregoing description, it can be seen that I have provided a novel dancing doll ot an exceptionally simple andldurable construction which will .aiford a maximum amount ot pleasure to the user thereof.

Changes in details may be made Without departing from the spirit or the scope ot this invention, but:

A'toy comprising ar frame including a base portion having longitudinally extending bars, and transversely extending bars secured to the npper faces of the longitudinally extending bars, a top portion including longitudinally and 'trans versely extending bars, and uprights at the corners of ythe trame connecting Vthe base and top portion together, a sound board carried by the base portion arranged upon the upper faces of the transverse bars thercot', the upper faces oi the bars ot top portion being notched at the central portions thereof, a ligure arranged centrally Within the frame including a body portion, a head carried by the top portion extending above the frame, jointed legs pivotally secured to the body portion, jointed arms pivotally secured to the body portion, and cords secured to the notched portions olI the bars of the top portion of the frame draivn taut and extending inwardly toward the ligure and secured to the upper end thereof for suspending the doll With its Jfeet in operative relation with the sounding board.

3. A toy comprising a trame including a lower base portion, a sounding board carried by the base portion, a top portion including longitudinal and transverse beams, nprights connecting the top portion to the base portion, a figure arranged centrally within the frame including a body portion and jointed legs secured to the body portion, and cords drawn taut connecting thev upper ends of the figure to the top portion of the trame for suspending the doll With its feet in 'operative relation with' the sounding board.
