CURTAIN AND DRA'PERY HOLDER Filed June 11, 1925 Patented Dec. 29, 1925.
UNITED STATES EDOUARD ROY, (1F LEWIS'ION. MAINE.
CURTAIN AND DBAPERY HOLDER,
Application filed June 11, 1925. Serial No. 36.459
1 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDOUARD'ROY, a citizen o1 the United States, residing at Lewiston, in the county of Androscoggin and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Curtain and Drapery Holders; and I do declare the fol lowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention aims to provide a simple and inexpensive, easily attached and detached device for holding curtains and draperies back at the sides of a door or window frame, in an attractive manner, provision being made whereby the device may be adjusted quickly and easily to hold the curtains or draperies in any desired position.
lVith the foregoing in view, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing.
Figure l is a perspective view showing the application of my invention to curtains and draperies of a window.
Figure 2 is a disassembled perspective view of one of the holders.
In the drawing above briefly described, C designates a clamp adapted to embrace the side of a door or window frame, said clamp preferably comprising two plates of sheet metal, designated at l and 2, and a coiled tension spring 3 connecting said plates, these plates beingprovided with hooks 4 to embrace the side of a door or window frame.
Connected to the clamp C, I have shown two wire arms 5 having hooks 6 at their outer ends for engagement with curtains or draperies, said hooks preferably having ornamental knobs 7 at their free ends. The arms 5 are of difierent lengths and they may be adjusted toward or from the side of the frame, by swinging them vertically to any desired extent, said arms being pivotally connected with the clamp C, for this purpose. In the present showing, a clamping bolt pas-es through an opening .9 in the plate 1, through other openings 10 in the inner ends of the arms 5, and through a spacing washer 11 which is disposed between said arms. said boll having a wing nut 12. By loosening this nut, the arms may be adjusted occasion may demand, and by tightening the nut, they are effectively held in adjusted. position.
By the use of my invention, curtains or draperies, or both, may be held in any desired positions with respect to the sides of a door or window frame and through employing arms oi relatively different lengths, the curtains and draperies may be held in ditl'erent relative positions. It is to be understood that the device is to be so delicately con structed, that it will present a very neat appearance when applied. It may be quickly and easily attached and adjusted, and may be at any time readjusted or detached with equal ease.
On account of the advantages flowing from the details shown, such details are by preference followed. However, within the scope of the invention as claimed, modifications may of course be made.
I claim:
1. A device oi the class described comprising a pair of sheet metal plates connected by a tension spring and having hooks at their outer ends for engagement with the side of a door or window frame, a plurality of wire arms adjacent one of said plates, and a clamping bolt passing through one end of the arms and adjustably pivoting them to said one plate, said bolt being provided with a clamping nut, the free ends of said arms having hooks being relatively vertically spaced and adjustable for engagement with curtains and draperies.
2. A structure as specified in claim 1; said arms being of relatively different lengths whereby to hold curtains and draperies at different relative positions.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto attixed my signature.
EDOUARD ROY.
