CURTAIN-POLE AND SHADE HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE F. BURFORD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Farmdale, in the county of Trumbull and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Pole and Shade Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a curtain pole and shade supporting means, the general object of the invention being to provide a bracket which can be easily and quickly clamped to the window frame to hold the device in place without the use of nails, screws or the like and to make a portion of the clamping means so that it will form a curtain pole support.

Another object of the invention is to make the shade roller holder adjustable in the bracket.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a front view of a window frame showing the invention in use.

Figure 2 is a section on line 2-2 of Figure 1.

In these views, A and B indicate a pair of brackets for holding a curtain pole and a shade roller in position on a window frame, the frame being shown in dotted lines. Each bracket consists of a pair of jaw parts- 1 and 2, a crank rod 3 rotatably supported by the part 1 and a slotted plate 4 which is connected with the crank of the rod 3 and is adjustably connected with the part 2 by the thumb nut 5 which passes through a slot 6 in the plate and is carried by the part 2. The plate 4 is engaged by cars 7 formed on the part 2. The crank parts are so formed that when the crank is resting against the part 1 in its downward limited movement,

the parts are on dead center so that the jaw members are locked in position and the outwardly bent end 3 of the rod 3 serves as a support for a curtain pole. By moving the crank upwardly the jaws are moved apart so that they can be placed in engagement with the top part of the window frame and then by swinging the clamp downwardly they will engage the edges of the frame and thus the bracket will be clamped on the frame. By adjustably connecting the part 2 with the plate l the device can be made to fit different widths of frames. The shade roller holders 8 are provided with long shanks which are slidably held on the parts 1 of the brackets by means of the tongues 9 struck up from. the parts 1 so that these holders can be adjusted to suit different lengths of shade rollers.

From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided means for holding shade rollers and curtain poles of various lengths and which are adjustable to suit difierent sizes of window frames. The parts are so formed that there is no necessity of marring the frame by driving nails or screws into the frame.

It is thought from the foregoing descrip tion that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

WVhat I claim is i A bracket of the class described comprising a pair of jaw members, each having tongues formed therefrom, a crank rod rotatably mounted on one member, a plate connected with the crank of the rod and passing under the tongues of the other member, a bolt carried by the member and a slot in the plate through which the bolt passes so that the plate is adj ustably connected with the member, a curtain pole support formed on one end of the crank rod and a shade roller holder passing under the tongues of the jaw member which carries the crank rod.
