To all whom @'25 may concern Be it known that I, Vieron B. HUM- rHnnYs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California., have invented new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Camp Cupboards, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is a collapsible camp cupboard and consists of the novel features herein shown, described and claimed.

An object is to make a cupboardwhich is easily set up or extended and which is easily collapsed or knocked down.

Other objects and advantages will appear from the drawings and specication.

The drawings illustrate the collapsible camp cupboard emobdying the, principles of the invention. n

Figure 1 is a perspective of the collapsible camp cupboard set up or extended for use.

Fig. 2 is a perspective of the cupboard partly set up or partly collapsed.

Fig. 3 is a perspective ofthe cupboard completely collapsed.

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional detail on the line 4 4 of Fig. 1 and looking downwardly as indicated by the arrows.

The details of construction and operation shown in the drawings are as follows:

The back 1 is the full size of the cupboard. The abutments 2 and 3 are placed against the side edges of the back 1 and rigidly secured in place by nails 4 and 5. The abutments 2 and 3 are just wide enough to extend forwardly from the back 1 a little more than the thickness of the shelf boards and the abutments extend the full length of the back. The shelf boards 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 each have metal binding strips 11 and 12 secured along their end faces and the bound boards fit loosely between the abutments 2 and 3 in front of the back 1 and are secured pivotally in place by screws 13 and 14 inserted through the abutments and through the binding strips 11 and 12 into the shelf boards so that the shelf boards will swing freely from horizontal position downwardly to vertical position. The shelf boards are spaced apart far enough so that when they swing downwardly as in Fig. 2 they will all lie fiat against the back 1.

'from their rear edges to receive the pivot screws 13 and 14 when the shelves swing downwardly. The lower ends of the connecting ybars 17 and 18 extend below the shelf to form latch members 22 and 23.

The side boards 24 and 25 are connected to the abutments 2 and 3 by hinges 26and 27 and are adapted to swing inwardly to cover the folded shelves as shown in Fig. 3, and' are adapted to swing outwardly into alinement with the abutments 2 and 3 as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Latch members 28 and 29 are secured against the inner faces of the side boards 24 and 25 near their lower ends and have teeth and 31 bent inwardly away from the boards and then backwardly to the boards,` and teeth 32 extending upwardly and forming slots 33 between the teeth and the boards behind the teeth so that when the sides boards 24 and 25 are swung open and the shelves 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 swung upwardly to horizontal positions, the latch members 22 and 23 will snap over the teeth 32 into the slots 33 and rest upon the teeth 30 and 31 and hold the shelves in their elevated horizontal positions.

Recesses 34 and 35 are formed in the upper face of the shelf 10 in position to receive the teeth 29 and 30 when the side boards are folded.

Thus I have produced a very simple collapsible camp cupboard which when collapsed is only three boards thick and which is set up to produce a substantial cupboard with only three movements; one movement to swing the side 24 open, the second movement to swing the side 25 open, and the third movement to swing the shelves 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 upwardly to horizontal positions, and the cupboard is as easily collapsed or folded. Any one of the shelves may be engaged to raise the shelvesslightly above normal to bring the latches 22 and 23 out of engagement with the hooks; then the sides 24 side boards hinged to the abutments and adapted to unfold so the shelves will swing upwardly between the side boards, and means for latehing the shelves to the side boards to hold the shelves in unfolded posiltions and to hold the side boards from swinging outwardly. l
