FRANK LESLIE CUNNINGl-'All/I, OF CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA.
MOP-CLOTH HOLDER.
Application filed September 21, 1922. Serial No. 589,633.
To aZZ fio/tom t mayfcoacera:
Be it known that I, FRANK LESLIE CUN NiiNGr-IAM, a subject of the King or Great p Britain andlreland, and residing at 207 Alberta Corner, 1n the city of Calgary,
Province ot Alberta, Dominion of Canada, having invented certain new and useful lne provements in a Mop-Cloth Holder, do hereby declare the followingl to be a nlhclear, and exact `description ot the same.
My invention relates to iinprorenjicnts in a mop cloth holder in which it is sought to grip the mop cloths so as to prevent `movement thereof,y the grippiiigg,` members being such that they will `assist the passage ot a wringer over the head of the cloth.
These objects I accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which- Fig. l is a perspective View of the front ol.E the holder showing in dotted lines the securing plate in the open position for placing the mop cloth.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing; in (lotn ted lines the mop cloth in place.
Similar letters reiter to similar parts throughout the several Views:
A4 base plate a, has termed thereon at one end a handle socket o, which socket Ais adapted to receive a liamlle. The lower end oft the base plate is recessed and has` the interior surface of the recess spla-yed outwardly from the surfaces of the base plate as shown at c. These splayed sur- 'accs assist a wringer member to pass from the base plate on to the mop cloth as the outer edges of the splayed members rest upon the cloth. Pinned upon the base plate adjacent the splayed portion is a clamping plate (Z, the pinned joint on one side of the base plate being` in a slot e, and on the other side being` detachable as shown at ,'F.
lt will be seen that the clampinp` plate (Z, may be released from the base plate o, on one side only a shown at y, and will pivot in the slot c, to the other side. illy. this means access is obtained to the recess in the base plate and the cloth g, maybe readily placed therein. Once the cloth is placed in the slot recess and the clamping member Z is fastened to the plate a, the cloth is held by contact bet-Ween the lower edges or the splayed surfaces c, and the inner edge of the plate al.
Having thus described my invention what ll claim is:
A mop holder comprising a plate provided with a handle receiving socket at one end thereof, the opposite end of said` `plate being provided with a rectangular recess, said plate being provided with a plurality oi slits extending into said recess,
and the alternative portions of the plate bel tween said slits being bent forwardly and rearwardly lo torni a jaw, a clamping jaw pivoted to the portion of said plate Atormingg one side oi' the .recess7 and means carried by the portion of the plate forming the other side or' the recess for detachably retaining said pivoted jaw in clamping position. p
