UNITED STATES HENRY PODOLSKY, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
TAILORS WORK HOLDER.
Application filed March 22, 1921.
To aZZ whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, HENRY PonoLsKY, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco,
State of California, have invented a new and useful Tailors lVork Holder, of which the following is a specification in such full'and clear terms as will enable those skilled in the art to construct and use the same.
This invention relates to a work holder for the use of tailors and its object is to provide means whereby a tailor may hold one edge of a strip of cloth to be sewed by hand with his left hand and the other edge with this hook, thereby enabling him to stretch the cloth to enablehim to make a better seam.
Another object o f the invention is to provide the holder with a detachable hook to provide for holding heavy or light work, for it will be understood by those skilled in the art that only one hook can be used to hold the cloth at the end of the seam and some hooks must be small to prevent injury to the cloth while other cloth requires a heavy hook.
Fig. 1 is a hook in use. 7
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the hook.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the hook looking from the back of Fig. 1.

Patented Jan. 24, 1922.
Serial No. 454,560.
The numeral 1 indicates any suitable portion of the clothing of the hook user or any fixed body of cloth to which the hook may be applied, and 2 indicates the cloth on which the person is workin The hook comprises a flat plate 3 provided with two hooks 4 and 5 on the under side; said hooks holding the plate in a fixed position.
On the opposite side of the plate there is a socket 6 with a spring latch 7 to engage a notch 8 in the work hook 9.
The work hook must be single to pull the cloth in alignment with the seam to be made, and may be made of different sizes as may be desired to prevent punching too large holes in fine goods.
Having thus described my invention which I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is as ttollows:
1. A sewing hook comprising a flat plate, a pair of hooks on one side of the plate, and a detachable hook on the opposite side of the plate. V
2. A sewing hook comprising a fiat plate, a pair of hooks on one side thereof, a hook socket secured to the other side of the plate, a hook extending into said socket, and a spring latch to detachably hold the hook in place.
In testimony whereo'f I have hereunto set my hand this 12" day of March, A. D. 1921.
