VANITY CASE.

Application filed May 31, 1923. Serial No. 642,628.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SIMON MORRISON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vanity Cases, of which the following is a specification.

My said invention relates to a vanity case and it is an object of the same to provide a vanity case of the character described which can be held in one hand with all the parts in position for use and which will be concealed to a considerable extent by the hand.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof and on which similar reference characters indicate similar parts,

Figure 3 a detail of the hinge and connected parts.

In the drawing reference character 10 indicates the bottom or box member of the case connected by a hinge 11 to an upper or cover member 12. At the forward side the box member has a lip indicated at 13 for engagement with a notch on the cover member formed by punching out a part at 14. A horizontal partition 15 preferably made of sheet metal has an annular depending flange 16 resting on the bottom of the box and providing a compartment to receive a rouge compact 26 which may be mounted on a slip of glass 17 in ordinary manner, the glass being preferably secured to the bottom of the box by adhesive material. At one side the partition has a notch to accommodate a post 18 which is reduced at its lower end and fixed in an opening in the box while at the upper end it has a reduced portion on which is pivotally secured the metallic casing 19 of a mirror 20, the post forming a vertical pivot therefor. The cover member 12 contains a powder compact 21 preferably mounted on a slip of glass 22 and secured to the cover by an adhesive, or in any other appropriate manner.

I have shown and described a preferred embodiment of my invention but it is to be understood that various changes and moilifications may be made therein by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention and therefore I do not limit myself to said embodiment but only as indicated in the appended claims.

Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. A vanity case comprising a box, a partition in the box having a depending flange, a rouge compact located within said flange, a vertical pivot fixed to the bottom of the box, a support on the upper end of the pivot adapted to swing laterally relatively to the box, and a mirror carried by said support, substantially as set forth.

2. A vanity case comprising a box, means carried by the box for securing a compact therein, a vertical pivot fixed to and concealed within the outlines of the box, a support on the upper end of the pivot adapted to swing laterally relatively to the box, and a toilet article carried by said support. substantially as set forth.

3. A vanity case comprising a box, means carried by the box for securing a toilet article therein, a vertical pivot fixed to the box. a support on the upper end of the pivot adapted to swing laterally relatively to the box, a toilet article mounted in said support. a cover pivoted to said box. and means carried by said cover for securing a toilet article therein, substantially as set forth.
