Description

H. SToYNE.
Bracelet-Gatch Fa-stenings.
Patented June 16, 1874.
NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY STONE, OF NEIV YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO IALDVIN, SEXTON &
PETERSON, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN BRACELET-CATCH FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 152,188, datcd June 16, 1874; application tiled February 26, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY STONE, of New York, in the' county and State ot' New York, have invented an Improved Bracelet -Oatch Fastening, ot' which the following is a speci cation:
This invention relates to an attachment for bracelet-catches, for the purpose of preventing the accidental disengagement ofthe saine; and it consists in a bar having one end pivoted to the bracelet, so as to enga-ge with a notch or depression in the catch, and prevent it from being pressed inward.
In the accompanying' drawing, Figure 1 is an edge view ot' a bracelet with my improvenient attached. Fig. 2 is a top view of the catch and fastening. Fig. 3 is an end view of the same.
This fasteningmay be applied to bracelets of any description having the ordinary springcateh. Y
The catch I3 is of the usual forni, provided with an elastic tongue, which enters an opening in the end ot' the section of the bracelet opposite to that to which the catch is attached, and furnished with a milled or roughened projection for pressing` it down with the inger in order to disengage it. Immediately in rear of this catch is pivoted one/end of a bar, O,
which may be straight or curved, as desired, and ornalnented in any suitable manner. On the end ot' the bar opposite the pivoted end is a knob or stud, d, to facilitate its manipulation. In the rear end ofthe milled or roughened portion is a notch or groove, with which the bar C engages, so as to prevent it from being' pressed down. When the bracelet is clasped and secured by means of the catch B, the bar O is moved so as to engage with the notch in the catch, and prevent it from being pressed inward, thus rendering impossible the accidental loosening of the catch without any necessity for a chain or other attachment, such as is in common use. Whenitis desired to release the catch, the bar O is turned back ont of the way, as shown in dotted lilies in Fig. 2.
That I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The bar O, pivoted at one end, and providedv with the knob or stud d at the opposite end, 1n combination with the catch B, substantially as and for the purpose shown and described.
HENRY STONE.
