IMPROVEMENT IN FASTENINGS FORBRACELETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,447, dated June 25, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE O. YEISER, of Lexington, in the county of Fayette and in the State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'Fastenings for Bracelets, Necklaces, &c.; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of fastening.
A and B represent the two parts of a bracelet hinged togetherat a. At the end of the part A is attached a spring, 0, which is bent over upon itself, as shown, the upper part forming the catch. In the corresponding end of the part B is an opening large enough to admit thespring C. When the two parts A and B are brought together the end of the spring 0 catches in the end of the part B at b. In this part B is a push-piece or knob, D, which, when pressed down, compresses the spring 0, releasing its end, and allowing the two parts of the bracelet to separate.
In all similar fastenings the push-piece or knob has invariably been fastened to the spring, while in mine it is made separate from and independent of the spring, the spring being on one and the push-piece on the other of the two parts to be fastened together.
In the use of this fastening I do not wish to be understood as confining myself to bracelets, necklaces, or other similar articles, as the same may be used for a variety of purposes: for instance, jewelry-boxes, satchels, clocks, cigarboXes, or, in fact, anywhere when it is desired to fasten two parts together.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The within-described fastening, consisting of the spring 0 and push-piece or knob D, when made separate and attached one to each of the two parts tobe fastened together, substantially as herein set forth.
