TROUSERS-PRESSING DEVICE.
Application filed December T0 all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED HOGAN, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of the city of Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trousers-Pressing Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in trousers pressing devices, and the object of my invention is to provide a device of this character by means of which trousers may be pressed and creased in a perfect manner without the use of irons or expensive pressing apparatus, which device is particularly adapted for home use, and is simple and inexpensive in construction and extremely easy to operate.
I attain this object by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which- Fig. l is a perspective view of the device with the spring member in the free position.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view with the spring member in the pressing position.
Similar gures of reference indicate similar parts in the views.
l indicates a flat board base of suitable thickness and of a size on which a pair of trousers, indicated by the dotted lines and the numeral 2, may be laid when folded for pressing. Secured rigidly into the base at one end is a pair of right angle end hooks 3 and 4r while secured into the base at its opposite end is a similar hook 5, this latter hook being turnable on its axis so as to face forwardly or to the side, as shown in Figs. l and 2. 6 indicates a normally bowed ieinber formed as an open frame of spring steel bar 8 the length of which is such that it may fit between the hooks 3 4 and 5 when straightened out. Upper and lower pads 9 and l0 are provided, of greater 1,1922. Serial No. 604,407.
length and width than the folded trousers and these may be of felt or any other suitable material, while 11 indicates a covering plate for the pads.
The manner in which the device is used and its utility will be readily apparent. The lower pad l() being laid on the board the folded trousers are placed on the lower pad and covered by the upper pad, after which the plate 11 is placed on the upper pad, Ithis plate then covering both pads and the trousers between them. The spring member 6 is then placed on the plate 11 with one end fitting under the hooks ,9i-4I, when the member will be in the position shown in Fig. 1. Under hand pressure the free end of the member is then sprung down and straightened out so that it may be hooked under the hook 5. The combined thickness of the two pads, the trousers, and the plate 11 is such that when the spring is hooked down it exerts a very strong pressure thereon so that after a suitable interval has elapsed the trousers will be found perfectly creased and pressed when the device is opened up.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have devisedv a simple, inexpensive and ellicient trousers press which is of great convenience and particularly well adapted for home use.
Vhat I claim as my invention is A trousers pressing device comprising, a flat base, a bowed spring open frame, hooks secured into the base adjacent one end under which one end of the said frame may be inserted, and a turnable hook .secured into the base adjacent the opposite end capable of manipulation to hold down the opposite end of the frame when straightened.
In testimony whereof I alix my signature at Vancouver, B. C., Canada, this 30th day of October, 1922.
FRED HOGAN.
