Description

H.KANGIESER NECKTIE PRESSER.
APPLICAT|0N FLLED DEC.8.1917.

ATTORNEY lnnrrrin srATEs PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY KANGIESER, 0F vYA, NEVADA. ff-i,
NECKTIE-PRESSER.
Application filed December S, 1917.
To all w/wm t may concer/n Be it known that I, HENRY KANGIESER, a citizen of the United Stat-cs, residing at Vya, in the county of Washoe and State of Ne vada, have invented new and useful Improvements in N ecktie-Pressers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a presser, and more particularly to the class of tie pressers.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, whereby a number of ties may be placed therein and successfully pressed so that all the creases and Wrinkles will be removed therefrom.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a tie presser comprising a base upon which the ties are received and a flexible element hingedly connected to one of the ends of the base and means arranged at the opposite end of the base for locking the said element thereto, whereby to cause the flexible element to frictionally contact with the base to press a tie or a number of ties arranged upon the base.
pressed, the said article being of a simple, cheap, and thoroughly effective construction.
Other objects and advantages will appear as the nature of the invention is more fully understood, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure l is a perspective View of the improvement.
Fig. 2 is a similar view illustrating the spring presser member in released position.
ig. 3 is an approximately central longitudinal sectional view of the device in pressing position.
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the same.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a base member 5 preferably constructed of wood and being of a suflicient length to receive a folded tie or ties thereon. The base 5 preferably increases in width from one of the ends thereof to the opposite end and the under face of the base, at the reduced end thereof is provided with a depression which gradually increases in depth from its inner end to the said reduced end of the base, the said depression being designed to receive a Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 6, 1919. serial No. 206,263.
plate 6, which is secured to the said base and which has its outer end curved upon itself to provide a loop or barrel 7. Through the .loop or barrel is passed a pintle 8 that receives the barrels or loops upon the inner and reduced end of a Hat spring 9. The spring, in plan, corresponds to the shape of the base, it being gradually widened from its hinged end to its opposite end, and the said spring being arched outwardly from its referred to hinged connection with the base. The outer or 4widened end of the 65 spring is-formed with an extension or lug 9, hingedly secured to the outer or widened end of the base 5 is a catch member l0, the same having a plurality of spaced openings 11, and one of which being designed to receive the lug or extension of the spring, whereby to retain the spring in contacting position with the base. By reference to the drawings, it will be noted that the base is arched, or slightly rounded from its center to its opposite ends and whereby the leaf spring will exert a greater friction against the base than were the said board straight. Both the base and the spring have a covering of some soft material, such as felt or the like, as `indicated by the characters l2 and 13 respectively, and in the operation of the device, the neck tie 14 is folded upon itself and lirst placed upon the base 5. Thereafter, the arched spring is swung toward the base so that the same will frictionally contact with the tie 14, the catch member is swung to engage with the lug at the end of the spring, for holding the said spring in tight engagement with the tie causing the binding or pressing action between itself, the tie and the base, whereby to effectively press the tie.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
1. A neck tie presser including an arched base, an arched spring hingedly secured to one of the ends of the base and designed to be swung over the base to frictionally contact with the base, and means for adjustably retaining the spring in such contacting position.
2. In a neck tie presser, adjacent one pressed to the said end and sion gradually increasing in a base having its of its ends, dethe said depresdepth from the 4said member an extending lug upon the opthe spring, a pivoted catch' posite end of upon the base and having spaced openings therein, and one of which being designed to receive the referred to lug, whereby to regun late the tension exerted between its Spring 10 and the base, when the said spring is swung upon the base and engaged by the depths.
In testimony' whereof I affix my signature.
HENRY KANGIESER.
